Como meu Pai me amou, assim também eu vos amei.

As my father loved me, so I loved you too.

Jesus não se cansa de insistir no amor: “Permaneçam no meu amor”. O amor de Jesus é concreto, real, feito de obediência à vontade do Pai. Jesus é infinitamente amado pelo Pai e, por sua vez, ama intensamente seus discípulos, a ponto de entregar-lhes a própria vida. Esse é o modelo de amor: dar a vida pela pessoa amada. Nossa maneira de amar deve também pôr em prática os seus mandamentos. Esse é o amor que Jesus pede a seus seguidores. Um amor que nada espera como recompensa e que podemos experimentar na alegria completa que só Jesus pode dar.

Jesus does not tire of insisting on love: "Remain in my love." The love of Jesus is concrete, real, made of obedience to the will of the father. Jesus is infinitely loved by the father and, in his turn, loves his disciples intensely, to the point of giving them his own life. This is the model of love: to give life for the loved one. Our way of loving must also put into practice his commandments. This is the love that Jesus asks of his followers. A love that expects nothing as a reward and that we can experience in the full joy that only Jesus can give.

Leitura dos Atos dos Apóstolos 15,7-21 – Naqueles dias, 7depois de longa discussão, Pedro levantou-se e falou aos apóstolos e anciãos: “Irmãos, vós sabeis que, desde os primeiros dias, Deus me escolheu do vosso meio para que os pagãos ouvissem de minha boca a palavra do evangelho e acreditassem. 8Ora, Deus, que conhece os corações, testemunhou a favor deles, dando-lhes o Espírito Santo como o deu a nós. 9E não fez nenhuma distinção entre nós e eles, purificando o coração deles mediante a fé. 10Então, por que vós agora colocais Deus à prova, querendo impor aos discípulos um jugo que nem nossos pais nem nós mesmos tivemos força para suportar? 11Ao contrário, é pela graça do Senhor Jesus que acreditamos ser salvos, exatamente como eles”. 12Houve então um grande silêncio em toda a assembleia. Depois disso, ouviram Barnabé e Paulo contar todos os sinais e prodígios que Deus havia realizado, por meio deles, entre os pagãos. 13Quando Barnabé e Paulo terminaram de falar, Tiago tomou a palavra e disse: “Irmãos, ouvi-me: 14Simão acaba de nos lembrar como, desde o começo, Deus se dignou tomar homens das nações pagãs para formar um povo dedicado ao seu nome. 15Isso concorda com as palavras dos profetas, pois está escrito: 16‘Depois disso, eu voltarei e reconstruirei a tenda de Davi que havia caído; reconstruirei as ruínas que ficaram e a reerguerei, 17a fim de que o resto dos homens procure o Senhor com todas as nações que foram consagradas ao meu nome. É o que diz o Senhor, que fez essas coisas, 18conhecidas há muito tempo’. 19Por isso, sou do parecer que devemos parar de importunar os pagãos que se convertem a Deus. 20Vamos somente prescrever que eles evitem o que está contaminado pelos ídolos, as uniões ilegítimas, comer carne de animal sufocado e o uso do sangue. 21Com efeito, desde os tempos antigos, em cada cidade Moisés tem os seus pregadores, que o leem todos os sábados nas sinagogas”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the Acts of the Apostles 15,7-21 – In those days, 7after a long discussion, Peter stood up and spoke to the apostles and elders: "Brethren, you know that, from the first days, God chose me from your midst so that the pagans would hear from my mouth the word of Gospel and believe. 8Now, God, who knows the hearts, testified in favor of them, giving them the Holy Spirit as he gave it to us. 9And made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts through faith. 10Then Why do you now put God to the test, wanting to impose to the disciples a yoke that neither our fathers nor ourselves had the strength to endure? 11On The contrary, it is by the grace of the Lord Jesus that we believe to be saved, just like them. " 12There Was a great silence in the whole house. Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 15,9-11 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus a seus discípulos: 9“Como meu Pai me amou, assim também eu vos amei. Permanecei no meu amor. 10Se guardardes os meus mandamentos, permanecereis no meu amor, assim como eu guardei os mandamentos do meu Pai e permaneço no seu amor. 11Eu vos disse isso para que a minha alegria esteja em vós e a vossa alegria seja plena”. – Palavra da salvação.
