Evangelho - João 18,1–19,42

N (Narrador): Paixão de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo segundo João – Naquele tempo, ¹Jesus saiu com os discípulos para o outro lado da torrente do Cedron. Havia aí um jardim, onde ele entrou com os discípulos. ²Também Judas, o traidor, conhecia o lugar, porque Jesus costumava reunir-se aí com os seus discípulos. ³Judas levou consigo um destacamento de soldados e alguns guardas dos sumos sacerdotes e fariseus e chegou ali com lanternas, tochas e armas. ⁴Então Jesus, consciente de tudo o que ia acontecer, saiu ao encontro deles e disse:

P (Presidente): A quem procurais?

N: ⁵Responderam:

G (Grupo ou assembleia): A Jesus, o nazareno.

N: Ele disse:

P: Sou eu.

N: Judas, o traidor, estava junto com eles. ⁶Quando Jesus disse “sou eu”, eles recuaram e caíram por terra. ⁷De novo lhes perguntou:

P: A quem procurais?

N: Eles responderam:

G: A Jesus, o nazareno.

N: ⁸Jesus respondeu:

P: Já vos disse que sou eu. Se é a mim que procurais, então deixai que estes se retirem.

N: ⁹Assim se realizava a palavra que Jesus tinha dito: “Não perdi nenhum daqueles que me confiaste”. ¹⁰Simão Pedro, que trazia uma espada consigo, puxou dela e feriu o servo do sumo sacerdote, cortando-lhe a orelha direita. O nome do servo era Malco. ¹¹Então Jesus disse a Pedro:

P: Guarda a tua espada na bainha. Não vou beber o cálice que o Pai me deu?

N: ¹²Então os soldados, o comandante e os guardas dos judeus prenderam Jesus e o amarraram. ¹³Conduziram-no primeiro a Anás, que era o sogro de Caifás, o sumo sacerdote naquele ano. ¹⁴Foi Caifás que deu aos judeus o conselho: “É preferível que um só morra pelo povo”. ¹⁵Simão Pedro e outro discípulo seguiam Jesus. Esse discípulo era conhecido do sumo sacerdote e entrou com Jesus no pátio do sumo sacerdote. ¹⁶Pedro ficou fora, perto da porta. Então o outro discípulo, que era conhecido do sumo sacerdote, saiu, conversou com a encarregada da porta e levou Pedro para dentro. ¹⁷A criada que guardava a porta disse a Pedro:

L (Leitor): Não pertences também tu aos discípulos desse homem?

N: Ele respondeu:

L: Não!

N: ¹⁸Os empregados e os guardas fizeram uma fogueira e estavam se aquecendo, pois fazia frio. Pedro ficou com eles, aquecendo-se. ¹⁹Entretanto, o sumo sacerdote interrogou Jesus a respeito de seus discípulos e de seu ensinamento. ²⁰Jesus lhe respondeu:

P: Eu falei às claras ao mundo. Ensinei sempre na sinagoga e no templo, onde todos os judeus se reúnem. Nada falei às escondidas. ²¹Por que me interrogas? Pergunta aos que ouviram o que falei; eles sabem o que eu disse.

N: ²²Quando Jesus falou isso, um dos guardas que ali estava deu-lhe uma bofetada, dizendo:

L: É assim que respondes ao sumo sacerdote?

N: ²³Respondeu-lhe Jesus:

P: Se respondi mal, mostra em quê; mas, se falei bem, por que me bates?

N: ²⁴Então Anás enviou Jesus amarrado para Caifás, o sumo sacerdote. ²⁵Simão Pedro continuava lá, em pé, aquecendo-se. Disseram-lhe:

G: Não és tu, também, um dos discípulos dele?

N: Pedro negou:

L: Não!

N: ²⁶Então um dos empregados do sumo sacerdote, parente daquele a quem Pedro tinha cortado a orelha, disse:

L: Será que não te vi no jardim com ele?

N: ²⁷Novamente Pedro negou. E na mesma hora, o galo cantou. ²⁸De Caifás, levaram Jesus ao palácio do governador. Era de manhã cedo. Eles mesmos não entraram no palácio, para não ficarem impuros e poderem comer a Páscoa. ²⁹Então Pilatos saiu ao encontro deles e disse:

L: Que acusação apresentais contra este homem?

N: ³⁰Eles responderam:

G: Se não fosse malfeitor, não o teríamos entregue a ti!

N: ³¹Pilatos disse:

L: Tomai-o vós mesmos e julgai-o de acordo com a vossa lei.

N: Os judeus lhe responderam:

G: Nós não podemos condenar ninguém à morte.

N: ³²Assim se realizava o que Jesus tinha dito, significando de que morte havia de morrer. ³³Então Pilatos entrou de novo no palácio, chamou Jesus e perguntou-lhe:

L: Tu és o rei dos judeus?

N: ³⁴Jesus respondeu:

P: Estás dizendo isso por ti mesmo ou outros te disseram isso de mim?

N: ³⁵Pilatos falou:

L: Por acaso sou judeu? O teu povo e os sumos sacerdotes te entregaram a mim. Que fizeste?

N: ³⁶Jesus respondeu:

P: O meu reino não é deste mundo. Se o meu reino fosse deste mundo, os meus guardas teriam lutado para que eu não fosse entregue aos judeus. Mas o meu reino não é daqui.

N: ³⁷Pilatos disse a Jesus:

L: Então tu és rei?

N: Jesus respondeu:

P: Tu o dizes: eu sou rei. Eu nasci e vim ao mundo para isto: para dar testemunho da verdade. Todo aquele que é da verdade escuta a minha voz.

N: ³⁸Pilatos disse a Jesus:

L: O que é a verdade?

N: Ao dizer isso, Pilatos saiu ao encontro dos judeus e disse-lhes:

L: Eu não encontro nenhuma culpa nele. ³⁹Mas existe entre vós um costume, que pela Páscoa eu vos solte um preso. Quereis que vos solte o rei dos judeus?

N: ⁴⁰Então, começaram a gritar de novo:

G: Este não, mas Barrabás!

N: Barrabás era um bandido. ^19,1Então Pilatos mandou flagelar Jesus. ²Os soldados teceram uma coroa de espinhos e a colocaram na cabeça de Jesus. Vestiram-no com um manto vermelho, ³aproximavam-se dele e diziam:

G: Viva o rei dos judeus!

N: E davam-lhe bofetadas. ⁴Pilatos saiu de novo e disse aos judeus:

L: Olhai, eu o trago aqui fora, diante de vós, para que saibais que não encontro nele crime algum.

N: ⁵Então Jesus veio para fora, trazendo a coroa de espinhos e o manto vermelho. Pilatos disse-lhes:

L: Eis o homem!

N: ⁶Quando viram Jesus, os sumos sacerdotes e os guardas começaram a gritar:

G: Crucifica-o! Crucifica-o!

N: Pilatos respondeu:

L: Levai-o vós mesmos para o crucificar, pois eu não encontro nele crime algum.

N: ⁷Os judeus responderam:

G: Nós temos uma lei, e, segundo essa lei, ele deve morrer, porque se fez Filho de Deus.

N: ⁸Ao ouvir essas palavras, Pilatos ficou com mais medo ainda. ⁹Entrou outra vez no palácio e perguntou a Jesus:

L: De onde és tu?

N: Jesus ficou calado. ¹⁰Então Pilatos disse:

L: Não me respondes? Não sabes que tenho autoridade para te soltar e autoridade para te crucificar?

N: ¹¹Jesus respondeu:

P: Tu não terias autoridade alguma sobre mim se ela não te fosse dada do alto. Quem me entregou a ti, portanto, tem culpa maior.

N: ¹²Por causa disso, Pilatos procurava soltar Jesus. Mas os judeus gritavam:

G: Se soltas esse homem, não és amigo de César. Todo aquele que se faz rei declara-se contra César.

N: ¹³Ouvindo essas palavras, Pilatos levou Jesus para fora e sentou-se no tribunal, no lugar chamado Pavimento, em hebraico “Gábata”. ¹⁴Era o dia da preparação da Páscoa, por volta do meio-dia. Pilatos disse aos judeus:

L: Eis o vosso rei!

N: ¹⁵Eles, porém, gritavam:

G: Fora! Fora! Crucifica-o!

N: Pilatos disse:

L: Hei de crucificar o vosso rei?

N: Os sumos sacerdotes responderam:

G: Não temos outro rei senão César.

N: ¹⁶Então Pilatos entregou Jesus para ser crucificado, e eles o levaram. ¹⁷Jesus tomou a cruz sobre si e saiu para o lugar chamado Calvário, em hebraico “Gólgota”. ¹⁸Ali o crucificaram, com outros dois: um de cada lado, e Jesus no meio. ¹⁹Pilatos mandou ainda escrever um letreiro e colocá-lo na cruz; nele estava escrito: “Jesus nazareno, o rei dos judeus”. ²⁰Muitos judeus puderam ver o letreiro, porque o lugar em que Jesus foi crucificado ficava perto da cidade. O letreiro estava escrito em hebraico, latim e grego. ²¹Então os sumos sacerdotes dos judeus disseram a Pilatos:

G: Não escrevas “o rei dos judeus”, mas sim o que ele disse: “Eu sou o rei dos judeus”.

N: ²²Pilatos respondeu:

L: O que escrevi está escrito.

N: ²³Depois que crucificaram Jesus, os soldados repartiram a sua roupa em quatro partes, uma parte para cada soldado. Quanto à túnica, esta era tecida sem costura, em peça única de alto a baixo. ²⁴Disseram então entre si:

G: Não vamos dividir a túnica. Tiremos a sorte para ver de quem será.

N: Assim se cumpria a Escritura que diz: “Repartiram entre si as minhas vestes e lançaram sorte sobre a minha túnica”. Assim procederam os soldados. ²⁵Perto da cruz de Jesus, estavam de pé a sua mãe, a irmã da sua mãe, Maria de Cléofas, e Maria Madalena. ²⁶Jesus, ao ver sua mãe e, ao lado dela, o discípulo que ele amava, disse à mãe:

P: Mulher, este é o teu filho.

N: ²⁷Depois disse ao discípulo:

P: Esta é a tua mãe.

N: Dessa hora em diante, o discípulo a acolheu consigo. ²⁸Depois disso, Jesus, sabendo que tudo estava consumado e para que a Escritura se cumprisse até o fim, disse:

P: Tenho sede.

N: ²⁹Havia ali uma jarra cheia de vinagre. Amarraram numa vara uma esponja embebida de vinagre e levaram-na à boca de Jesus. ³⁰Ele tomou o vinagre e disse:

P: Tudo está consumado.

N: E, inclinando a cabeça, entregou o espírito.

Todos se ajoelham e faz-se breve pausa.

N: ³¹Era o dia da preparação para a Páscoa. Os judeus queriam evitar que os corpos ficassem na cruz durante o sábado, porque aquele sábado era dia de festa solene. Então pediram a Pilatos que mandasse quebrar as pernas aos crucificados e os tirasse da cruz. ³²Os soldados foram e quebraram as pernas de um e, depois, do outro que foram crucificados com Jesus. ³³Ao se aproximarem de Jesus e vendo que já estava morto, não lhe quebraram as pernas; ³⁴mas um soldado abriu-lhe o lado com uma lança, e logo saiu sangue e água. ³⁵Aquele que viu dá testemunho, e seu testemunho é verdadeiro; e ele sabe que fala a verdade, para que vós também acrediteis. ³⁶Isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse a Escritura, que diz: “Não quebrarão nenhum dos seus ossos”. ³⁷E outra Escritura ainda diz: “Olharão para aquele que transpassaram”. ³⁸Depois disso, José de Arimateia, que era discípulo de Jesus – mas às escondidas, por medo dos judeus –, pediu a Pilatos para tirar o corpo de Jesus. Pilatos consentiu. Então José veio tirar o corpo de Jesus. ³⁹Chegou também Nicodemos, o mesmo que antes tinha ido de noite encontrar-se com Jesus. Levou uns trinta quilos de perfume feito de mirra e aloés. ⁴⁰Então tomaram o corpo de Jesus e envolveram-no, com os aromas, em faixas de linho, como os judeus costumam sepultar. ⁴¹No lugar onde Jesus foi crucificado havia um jardim e, no jardim, um túmulo novo, onde ainda ninguém tinha sido sepultado. ⁴²Por causa da preparação da Páscoa e como o túmulo estava perto, foi ali que colocaram Jesus. – Palavra da salvação.

At that time, 1Jesus went out with the disciples to the other side of the stream of Cedron. The Jews answered him, We can not condemn anyone to death. 32That was what Jesus had said, meaning that he would die. 33Then Pilate entered the palace again, called Jesus and said to him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" 34Jesus answered, "Are you saying this for yourself, or have others told you this about me? Phileas said, "Am I a Jew?" Your people and the chief priests have delivered you to me. What have you done? 36Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my guards would have fought that I should not be delivered to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from here. 37Pilatos said to Jesus, "Are you a king?" Jesus answered and said, Thou sayest, I am a king. I was born and came into the world for this: to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice. 38Pilatos said to Jesus, What is the truth? When he had said this, Pilate met the Jews and said to them, I find no guilt in him. But there is a custom among you, that at the Passover I will release a prisoner. Do you want me to release the king of the Jews? 40And they began to cry again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas! Barabbas was a thug. 19-1 Then Pilate had Jesus scourged. 2 The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on Jesus' head. They dressed him in a red robe, and they approached him and said, "Long live the king of the Jews!" And they slapped him. 4Pilatos went out again and said to the Jews, "Behold, I bring him out before you, that you may know that I find no crime in him. 5Then Jesus came out, bringing the crown of thorns, and the red robe. Pilate said to them, "Behold the man! 6 When they saw Jesus, the chief priests and the guards began to shout, "Crucify him! Crucify him! Everyone who makes himself king declares himself against Caesar. 13With these words, Pilate took Jesus out and sat in the judgment seat at the place called "Pavement," in Hebrew "Gbatha." 14It was the day of the preparation of the passover, about noon. Pilate said to the Jews, "Behold your king! But they cried out, Out! Out! Crucify him! Pilate said, "Shall I crucify your king?" And the chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. 16Then Pilate delivered Jesus to be crucified, and they took him.17 Jesus took the cross upon himself and went out to the place called "Calvary," in Hebrew "Golgotha." 18And they crucified him with two others, one on each side, and Jesus in the midst. 19 Pilate also wrote a sign and put it on the cross; in it was written, "Jesus the Nazarene, the King of the Jews." 20 Many Jews could see the sign, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. The sign was written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek. 21Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, Do not write "the king of the Jews," but rather he said, "I am the king of the Jews." 22Pilatos replied, "What I have written is written.23After they crucified Jesus, the soldiers divided their clothes into four parts, one part for each soldier. As for the tunic, it was woven seamless, in single piece from top to bottom. 24 And they said among themselves, Let us not divide the robe. Let's get lucky to see who it will be. Thus was fulfilled the scripture that says, "They divided my garments among them, and cast lots upon my tunic." So did the soldiers. 25 And standing on the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved beside her, he said to his mother, "Woman , this is your son. 27Then he said to the disciple, "This is your mother." From that time on, the disciple took her in. 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all was finished, and that the scripture might be fulfilled to the end, said: I thirst. 29 There was a jar full of vinegar there. They tied a sponge soaked with vinegar on a stick and carried it to Jesus' mouth. 30And he took the vinegar and said, All is finished. And bowing his head, he gave up the spirit.31 It was the day of preparation for the passover. The Jews wanted to keep the bodies from remaining on the cross during the Sabbath, because that Sabbath was a solemn feast day. Then they asked Pilate to have his legs broken off for the crucified ones and to take them off the cross. 32The soldiers went and broke the legs of one and after that they were crucified with Jesus. 33And when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead, they did not break his legs; 34But a soldier opened his side with a spear, and soon blood and water came out. 35 He that hath seen, beareth record, and his testimony is true; and he knoweth that he speaketh the truth, that ye also may believe. 36This was done to fulfill the scripture, which says, "They shall not break any of his bones." 37And another scripture says, "They shall look upon him whom they have pierced." 38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus - but in secret, for fear of the Jews - asked Pilate to remove Jesus' body. Pilate consented. So Joseph came to take the body of Jesus. 39Then Nicodemus came, the same man who had gone before at night to meet Jesus. It took about thirty kilos of perfume made of myrrh and aloe. 40And they took the body of Jesus, and wrapped it with the fragrance of linen, as the Jews used to bury. 41In the place where Jesus was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb where no one had yet been buried. 42For the preparation of the passover, and because the tomb was near, it was there that they laid Jesus. Refletindo o Evangelho

O longo relato da paixão de Jesus, segundo João, é muito detalhado. O autor descreve com pormenores o processo de julgamento, condenação e morte de Jesus. A páscoa da cruz, como pode ser chamada a sexta-feira da paixão, expressa a tristeza e o luto, pois a comunidade-noiva perde temporariamente seu noivo. Reflecting the Gospel

The long account of Jesus' passion, according to John, is very detailed. The author describes in detail the process of judgment, condemnation, and death of Jesus. The Passover of the Cross, as it may be called the Friday of the Passion, expresses sadness and mourning, for the community bride temporarily loses her bridegroom. Lord, I put my hope in you; / that I am not ashamed forever! / Into your hands, Lord, I surrender my spirit, / for you will save me, O faithful God! I became the reproach of the enemy, / the contempt and derision of the neighbors / and object of dread to the friends; / Those who see me on the street flee from me. / Hearts have forgotten me as a dead, / and I became like a broken vessel. But to you, O my Lord, I trust and affirm that you alone are my God! / I deliver into your hands my destiny; Release me from the enemy and the oppressor! Show your face serene to your servant / and save me by your compassion. Strengthen your hearts, be courageous, all you who trust in the Lord. Psalm 30/31.
