Evangelho - Lucas 4,24-30

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Jesus, vindo a Nazaré, disse ao povo na sinagoga: ²⁴“Em verdade eu vos digo que nenhum profeta é bem recebido em sua pátria. ²⁵De fato, eu vos digo: no tempo do profeta Elias, quando não choveu durante três anos e seis meses e houve grande fome em toda a região, havia muitas viúvas em Israel. ²⁶No entanto, a nenhuma delas foi enviado Elias, senão a uma viúva que vivia em Sarepta, na Sidônia. ²⁷E no tempo do profeta Eliseu havia muitos leprosos em Israel. Contudo, nenhum deles foi curado, mas sim Naamã, o sírio”. ²⁸Quando ouviram estas palavras de Jesus, todos na sinagoga ficaram furiosos. ²⁹Levantaram-se e o expulsaram da cidade. Levaram-no até o alto do monte sobre o qual a cidade estava construída, com a intenção de lançá-lo no precipício. ³⁰Jesus, porém, passando pelo meio deles, continuou o seu caminho. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 4,24-30

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke - Jesus came to Nazareth and said to the people in the synagogue, "Verily I say unto you, No prophet is well received in his own country. 25And I say to you, in the time of Elijah the prophet, when it rained not for three years and six months, and there was a great famine in all the region, there were many widows in Israel. 26Nevertheless, to none of them was Elijah sent, except to a widow who lived in Zarephath, in Sidon. 27And in the time of the prophet Elisha there were many lepers in Israel. Yet none of them was healed, but Naaman the Syrian. " 28 When they heard these words of Jesus, they were all in the synagogue. 29 They rose up and drove him out of the city. They took him to the top of the hill on which the city was built, with the intention of throwing it on the precipice. 30Jesus went through the midst of them, and went on his way. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Na sinagoga de Nazaré, Jesus se apresentara como o Ungido do Espírito Santo, o Messias. A princípio houve aceitação, mas logo a assembleia se pôs a questionar como era possível alguém tão simples, pobre e sem títulos, dizer que era o Cristo. Além de não acreditar em Jesus, seus conterrâneos o trataram com certo desdém, por isso ele endereçou-lhes o provérbio: “Nenhum profeta é aceito em sua pátria”. E, citando dois episódios das Escrituras, confirmou que os não judeus (uma viúva e um leproso) foram mais sensíveis e abertos à salvação de Deus do que os nazarenos. A lição logo foi entendida, de modo que “todos na sinagoga ficaram furiosos”. Tomados de ira, queriam lançar Jesus no precipício. Mas, desvencilhando-se deles, Jesus seguiu seu caminho. Era apenas o início da missão.

Reflecting the Gospel

In the synagogue of Nazareth, Jesus presented himself as the Anointed of the Holy Spirit, the Messiah. At first there was acceptance, but soon the assembly began to question how it was possible for someone so simple, poor and without titles, to say that it was the Christ. In addition to not believing in Jesus, his countrymen treated him with a certain disdain, so he addressed the proverb: "No prophet is accepted in his country." And, citing two episodes of Scripture, he confirmed that non-Jews (a widow and a leper) were more sensitive and open to the salvation of God than the Nazarenes. The lesson was soon understood, so that "all in the synagogue were furious." In anger, they wanted to cast Jesus on the precipice. But, breaking free from them, Jesus went on his way. It was just the beginning of the mission.
