Evangelho - Mateus 25,31-46

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: ³¹“Quando o Filho do homem vier em sua glória, acompanhado de todos os anjos, então se assentará em seu trono glorioso. ³²Todos os povos da terra serão reunidos diante dele, e ele separará uns dos outros, assim como o pastor separa as ovelhas dos cabritos. ³³E colocará as ovelhas à sua direita e os cabritos à sua esquerda. ³⁴Então o rei dirá aos que estiverem à sua direita: ‘Vinde, benditos de meu Pai! Recebei como herança o reino que meu Pai vos preparou desde a criação do mundo! ³⁵Pois eu estava com fome e me destes de comer; eu estava com sede e me destes de beber; eu era estrangeiro e me recebestes em casa; ³⁶eu estava nu e me vestistes; eu estava doente e cuidastes de mim; eu estava na prisão e fostes me visitar’. ³⁷Então os justos lhe perguntarão: ‘Senhor, quando foi que te vimos com fome e te demos de comer? Com sede e te demos de beber? ³⁸Quando foi que te vimos como estrangeiro e te recebemos em casa, e sem roupa e te vestimos? ³⁹Quando foi que te vimos doente ou preso e fomos te visitar?’ ⁴⁰Então o rei lhes responderá: ‘Em verdade eu vos digo que, todas as vezes que fizestes isso a um dos menores de meus irmãos, foi a mim que o fizestes!’ ⁴¹Depois o rei dirá aos que estiverem à sua esquerda: ‘Afastai-vos de mim, malditos! Ide para o fogo eterno, preparado para o diabo e para os seus anjos. ⁴²Pois eu estava com fome e não me destes de comer; eu estava com sede e não me destes de beber; ⁴³eu era estrangeiro e não me recebestes em casa; eu estava nu e não me vestistes; eu estava doente e na prisão e não fostes me visitar’. ⁴⁴E responderão também eles: ‘Senhor, quando foi que te vimos com fome ou com sede, como estrangeiro ou nu, doente ou preso, e não te servimos?’ ⁴⁵Então o rei lhes responderá: ‘Em verdade eu vos digo, todas as vezes que não fizestes isso a um desses pequeninos, foi a mim que não o fizestes!’ ⁴⁶Portanto, estes irão para o castigo eterno, enquanto os justos irão para a vida eterna”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Matthew 9,14-15

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 31 "When the Son of man comes in his glory, accompanied by all the angels, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32All the peoples of the earth shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd divideth the sheep from the goats. 33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on his left. 34Then the king will say to those on his right, "Come, ye blessed of my Father! Receive as an inheritance the kingdom which my Father has prepared for you since the creation of the world! 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you welcomed me home; 36I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you came to visit me. ' 37 Then the righteous will ask him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you? Thirsty and give you a drink? 38When did we see you as a stranger and receive you at home, and without clothing, and we clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or imprisoned and we went to visit you? "40And the king answered them," Verily I say unto you, that as many as ye have done it unto one of the least of my brethren, it hath been done unto me. " 41 Then the king will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, ye cursed! Go to the eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you did not give me food; I was thirsty and you did not give me a drink; I was a stranger and you did not receive me at home; I was naked and you did not clothe me; I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Refletindo o Evangelho

Mateus apresenta, em forma de drama, o julgamento final. Diante do Rei (Jesus), nenhum grupo privilegiado (cristãos, muçulmanos, budistas etc.), mas “todas as nações”. Haverá separação: direita e esquerda; ovelhas e cabritos; boas-vindas aos que praticaram obras de justiça; ordem de afastar-se aos que não as praticaram. A sentença se dará em base à prática da justiça e misericórdia. Em outras palavras, o critério do julgamento é a nossa atitude diante dos marginalizados. E os que nunca ouviram falar de Jesus, também eles serão julgados com esse critério? Todo ser humano, em pleno uso de sua razão, conhece o que é bom, justo e honesto. Sendo assim, estão em sintonia com o projeto de Deus. É a prática da justiça e do amor que decide o destino de cada pessoa.

Reflecting the Gospel
