Jesus could not remain unnoticed.

1a. Leitura - 1 Reis 11,4-13

Leitura do primeiro livro dos Reis – ⁴Quando Salomão ficou velho, suas mulheres desviaram o seu coração para outros deuses e seu coração já não pertencia inteiramente ao Senhor, seu Deus, como o do seu pai, Davi. ⁵Salomão prestou culto a Astarte, deusa dos sidônios, e a Melcom, ídolo dos amonitas. ⁶Ele fez o que desagrada ao Senhor e não lhe foi inteiramente fiel, como seu pai, Davi. ⁷Foi então que Salomão construiu um santuário para Camos, ídolo de Moab, no monte que está defronte de Jerusalém, e para Melcom, ídolo dos amonitas. ⁸Fez o mesmo para todas as suas mulheres estrangeiras, as quais queimavam incenso e ofereciam sacrifícios aos seus deuses. ⁹Então, o Senhor irritou-se contra Salomão, porque o seu coração tinha se desviado do Senhor, Deus de Israel, que lhe tinha aparecido duas vezes ¹⁰e lhe proibira expressamente seguir a outros deuses. Mas ele não obedeceu à ordem do Senhor. ¹¹E o Senhor disse a Salomão: “Já que procedeste assim e não guardaste a minha aliança nem as leis que te prescrevi, vou tirar-te o reino e dá-lo a um teu servo. ¹²Mas, por amor de teu pai, Davi, não o farei durante a tua vida; é da mão de teu filho que o arrebatarei. ¹³Não te tirarei o reino todo, mas deixarei ao teu filho uma tribo, por consideração para com meu servo Davi e para com Jerusalém, que escolhi”. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - 1 Kings 11,4-13

When Solomon was old, his wives turned their hearts to other gods, and their heart no longer belonged entirely to the Lord their God, like that of their father, David. 5 And Solomon worshiped Astarte the goddess of the Zidonians, and Melcom the idol of the Ammonites. 6He did what was displeasing to the Lord and was not entirely faithful to him, like his father, David. 7 And Solomon built a sanctuary for Camos, the idol of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and Melcom the idol of the children of Ammon. 8 He did likewise to all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods. 9And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart had departed from Jehovah, the God of Israel, who had appeared unto him twice, and had forbidden him to follow other gods. But he did not obey the Lord's command. 11And the Lord said to Solomon, "Since you have done this and have not kept my covenant, nor the laws I have prescribed for you, I will take away your kingdom and give it to your servant. But for your father's sake, David, I will not do it during your life; it is from the hand of your son that I will take it. 13 I will not take away the whole kingdom from you, but I will leave a tribe for your son for my servant David and for Jerusalem whom I have chosen. " - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho - Marcos 7,24-30

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos – Naquele tempo, ²⁴Jesus saiu e foi para a região de Tiro e Sidônia. Entrou numa casa e não queria que ninguém soubesse onde ele estava. Mas não conseguiu ficar escondido. ²⁵Uma mulher, que tinha uma filha com um espírito impuro, ouviu falar de Jesus. Foi até ele e caiu a seus pés. ²⁶A mulher era pagã, nascida na Fenícia da Síria. Ela suplicou a Jesus que expulsasse de sua filha o demônio. ²⁷Jesus disse: “Deixa primeiro que os filhos fiquem saciados, porque não está certo tirar o pão dos filhos e jogá-lo aos cachorrinhos”. ²⁸A mulher respondeu: “É verdade, Senhor; mas também os cachorrinhos, debaixo da mesa, comem as migalhas que as crianças deixam cair”. ²⁹Então Jesus disse: “Por causa do que acabas de dizer, podes voltar para casa. O demônio já saiu de tua filha”. ³⁰Ela voltou para casa e encontrou sua filha deitada na cama, pois o demônio já havia saído dela. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Mark 7,24-30

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ According to Mark - At that time, Jesus left and went to the region of Tire and Sidon. He went into a house and did not want anyone to know where he was. But he could not stay hidden. 25A woman who had a daughter with an unclean spirit heard of Jesus. He went to him and fell at his feet. 26The woman was a pagan, born in Phenicia of Syria. She begged Jesus to expel the demon from her daughter. 27Jesus said, "Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not right to take the bread from the children and throw it to the dogs." 28The woman answered, "It is true, Lord; but also the little dogs under the table eat the crumbs that children drop. " 29Then Jesus said, "Because of what you have just said, you can go home. The devil is gone from your daughter. " She went home and found her daughter lying on the bed, for the devil had already left her. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Jesus encontra-se fora do seu costumeiro campo de missão. Mesmo assim, “não conseguiu ficar despercebido”. Uma senhora estrangeira o descobre e, com um gesto de respeito, lhe pede a cura de sua “filha possuída por um espírito impuro”. Talvez para testar a fé dessa mulher, Jesus dificulta o atendimento. Mas, diante da insistência dela, cede a seus rogos. Garante-lhe que, por sua fé extraordinária, sua filha já está curada. Jesus não é um mágico que passa o tempo fazendo prodígios para impressionar o povo. Jesus não é um milagreiro. O milagre se dá quando a pessoa que o solicita se dispõe a acreditar em Jesus e seguir seus passos. Às vezes a pessoa não vai além do benefício recebido. Seu coração ainda não está preparado para trilhar os caminhos do Senhor.

Reflecting the Gospel

Jesus is outside his usual mission field. Even so, "could not stay unnoticed." A foreign lady discovers him and, with a gesture of respect, asks her to heal her "daughter possessed by an impure spirit." Perhaps to test this woman's faith, Jesus makes it difficult to attend. But, at her insistence, yield to her pleas. Assures her that by her extraordinary faith her daughter is already cured. Jesus is not a magician who spends his time doing prodigies to impress the people. Jesus is not a miracle worker. The miracle happens when the person who asks him is willing to believe in Jesus and follow in his footsteps. Sometimes the person does not go beyond the benefit received. His heart is not yet ready to tread the ways of the Lord.

Praying

Happy are they that keep his precepts / and do righteousness at all times! / Remember, O Lord, remember me, / for the love you show to your people! They then mixed with the pagans / and learned their depraved customs. / The pagan idols worshiped, / who became a trap for them. For they have slain even their own children, and have sacrificed their daughters to the devils. / The wrath of God was kindled against his people, / and the LORD abhorred his inheritance. Psalm 105/106.
