O reino de Deus está próximo, convertei-vos e crede no evangelho
The kingdom of God is near, repent and believe in the gospel

1a. Leitura - Gênesis 9,8-15

Leitura do livro do Gênesis – ⁸Disse Deus a Noé e a seus filhos: ⁹“Eis que vou estabelecer minha aliança convosco e com vossa descendência, ¹⁰com todos os seres vivos que estão convosco: aves, animais domésticos e selvagens, enfim, com todos os animais da terra, que saíram convosco da arca. ¹¹Estabeleço convosco a minha aliança: nunca mais nenhuma criatura será exterminada pelas águas do dilúvio e não haverá mais dilúvio para devastar a terra”. ¹²E Deus disse: “Este é o sinal da aliança que coloco entre mim e vós, e todos os seres vivos que estão convosco, por todas as gerações futuras: ¹³ponho meu arco nas nuvens como sinal de aliança entre mim e a terra. ¹⁴Quando eu reunir as nuvens sobre a terra, aparecerá meu arco nas nuvens. ¹⁵Então eu me lembrarei de minha aliança convosco e com todas as espécies de seres vivos. E não tornará mais a haver dilúvio que faça perecer nas suas águas toda criatura”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Read from the book of Genesis - 8 And God said to Noah and his sons, 9 Behold, I will establish my covenant with you, and with your seed, 10 with all the living creatures that are with you: fowl, and wild beasts, and all the beasts of the earth, who went out with you from the ark. 11 I will establish my covenant with you: there shall be no more creature exterminated by the waters of the flood, and there shall be no more deluge to devastate the earth. 12And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant that I place between me and you, and all the living creatures that are with you, for all future generations: 13 I will set my bow in the clouds as a sign of a covenant between me and the earth. 14When I gather the clouds upon the earth, my bow will appear in the clouds. 15Then I will remember my covenant with you and with all kinds of living creatures. And there shall no more be a flood, that every creature shall perish in his waters. " - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho -Marcos 1,12-15

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Marcos – Naquele tempo, ¹²o Espírito levou Jesus para o deserto. ¹³E ele ficou no deserto durante quarenta dias e aí foi tentado por satanás. Vivia entre os animais selvagens, e os anjos o serviam. ¹⁴Depois que João Batista foi preso, Jesus foi para a Galileia, pregando o evangelho de Deus e dizendo: ¹⁵“O tempo já se completou e o reino de Deus está próximo. Convertei-vos e crede no evangelho!” – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Matthew 9,14-15

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark - At that time, the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. 13And he was in the wilderness for forty days, and there he was tempted by satan. He lived among the wild beasts, and the angels served him. 14After John the Baptist was taken prisoner, Jesus went to Galilee, preaching the gospel of God and saying: 15 "The time has come and the kingdom of God is near. Refletindo o Evangelho

Depois de batizado, Jesus é conduzido pelo Espírito Santo para o deserto, onde se prepara para a missão, e aí é tentado por satanás. O deserto é lugar de retiro em vista da missão, mas também lugar de desafios e de provas. Marcos não detalha as tentações de Jesus, apenas diz que foi tentado por satanás, o adversário do seu projeto. Após a experiência do deserto, Jesus sai do anonimato, dirige-se à Galileia e começa a pregar: “O tempo se cumpriu e o Reino de Deus está perto”. O tempo se cumpriu, o reino está próximo e é tempo de conversão. Com Jesus chegou a boa notícia do Reino de Deus, é tempo de aderir ao seu projeto. O forte apelo de conversão acompanha a Quaresma toda. Pela palavra de Deus, o cristão é convidado a uma contínua mudança de vida. A conversão envolve a pessoa em sua totalidade e determina novo rumo em sua vida. O reino inaugurado por Jesus é algo que não se concretiza de forma mágica nem se impõe de forma violenta. Ele vai se solidificando à medida que nos convertemos a ele e aderimos ao evangelho.

Reflecting the Gospel

After being baptized, Jesus is led by the Holy Spirit into the desert, where he prepares for the mission, and there is tempted by Satan. The desert is a place of retreat in view of the mission, but also a place of challenges and trials. Mark does not detail the temptations of Jesus, only says that he was tempted by Satan, the adversary of his project. After the experience of the desert, Jesus comes out of anonymity, goes to Galilee and begins to preach: "The time has come and the Kingdom of God is near." Time has been fulfilled, the kingdom is near and time for conversion. With Jesus came the good news of the Kingdom of God, it is time to adhere to your project. The strong appeal of conversion accompanies all Lent. By the word of God, the Christian is invited to a continual change of life. Conversion involves the whole person and determines new direction in your life. The kingdom inaugurated by Jesus is something that does not materialize in a magical way nor is imposed in a violent way. It solidifies as we convert to it and adhere to the gospel.

The Lord is piety and righteousness and leads sinners back in the right way. / He directs the humble in justice, / and to the poor he teaches his way. Psalm 24/25.
