“Here is the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word!”

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading the second book of Samuel 7,1-5.8-12.14.16 - 1When King David was already installed in his house and the Lord had given him peace, delivering him from all his enemies, 2he said to the prophet Nathan: “See, I live in a cedar palace, and the ark of God is housed in a tent!” 3Nathan replied to the king, "Go and do whatever your heart says, for the Lord is with you." 4But, that same night, the word of the Lord was addressed to Nathan in these terms: 5 ″ Go and say to my servant David: ‘So says the Lord: Are you the one who will build me a house to live in? 8 It was I who brought you out of the shepherding, among the sheep, to be the chief of my people, Israel. 9 I have been with you wherever you have gone and I have cut off all your enemies before you, making your name as famous as that of the most famous men on earth. 10I will prepare a place for my people, Israel: I will implant it, so that I can live there without ever being disturbed. Violent men will not oppress you as they once did, 11 when I was establishing judges over my people, Israel. I grant you a peaceful life, getting rid of all your enemies. And the Lord announces that he will make you a home. 12When your days come to an end and you rest with your parents, then I will raise up your son after you and confirm your royalty. 14I will be a father to him and he will be a son to me. 16Your house and your kingdom will be stable forever before me, and your throne will be firm forever '”. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 88/89
Ó Senhor, eu cantarei eternamente o vosso amor!
3. Ele, então, me invocará: † ‘Ó Senhor, vós sois meu Pai, sois meu Deus, / sois meu rochedo onde encontro a salvação!’

Psalm 88/89
O Lord, I will sing your love forever!
1. O Lord, I will sing your love forever, / from generation to generation I will sing your truth! / Because you said: "Love is guaranteed forever!" / And your loyalty is as steadfast as the heavens.
2. “I made a covenant with my servant, my elect, / and I made an oath to David, my servant. / Forever on your throne, I will establish your lineage, / from generation to generation I will guarantee your reign!
3. He will then call on me: † 'O Lord, you are my Father, you are my God, / you are my rock where I find salvation!' / I will keep my grace to him forever / and with him I will establish my indissoluble covenant. "

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 1,26-38 - At that time, the 26th angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city in Galilee, called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin, promised in marriage to a man named Joseph. He was a descendant of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel came in where she was and said, "Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" 29Maria was disturbed by these words and began to think about the meaning of the greeting. 30The angel then said to her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, because you have found favor with God. 31Behold, you will conceive and bear a son, whom you will name Jesus. 32He will be great, he will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. 33He will reign forever over the descendants of Jacob, and his kingdom will have no end ”. 34Maria asked the angel, "How will this happen if I don't know any man?" 35The angel replied, “The Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be called holy, Son of God. 36Isabella, your relative, also conceived a son in old age. This is already the sixth month of what was considered sterile, because nothing is impossible with God ”. 38Maria then said, “Here is the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word! ” And the angel left. - Word of salvation.

To think about
The angel of the Lord appears to Mary and invites her to accept God's proposal to be the mother of the Son of God. The angel's first greeting was one of joy: “Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you”. The reason for the joy is that the Lord is with Mary and wants to be incarnated in her. Faced with this greeting, the young woman wonders what this means. And the angel clarified and she replied: "Here is the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me as you told me". What happens in Mary is the work of God, the announcement of the birth of Jesus is based on the yes of a simple woman from a village on the outskirts, where no one expects anything good. Jesus is present where people welcome him with simplicity.
