🇧🇷Feliz Oitava de Natal - 29 Dez - Liturgia Diária ::: 🇺🇸Merry Christmas Octave - Dez 29 - Daily Liturgy

Meus olhos viram a Tua salvação.
My eyes saw Your salvation.

1a.Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading of the first letter of Saint John 2,3-11 - Dear friends, 3 to know that we know Jesus, let us see if we keep his commandments. 4Who says, "I know God," but he does not keep his commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5In him, however, who keeps his word, God's love is fully realized. The criterion for knowing if we are with Jesus is this: 6 whoever says he remains in him must also proceed as he did. 7 Dear friends, I am not communicating a new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you received from the beginning; this ancient commandment is the word that you have heard. 8However, what I am writing to you is a new commandment - which is true in him and in you - since the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. 9He who says he is in the light, but hates his brother, is still in darkness. 10 He who loves his brother remains in the light and is in no danger of stumbling. 11But he who hates his brother is in darkness, walks in darkness and does not know where he is going, because darkness has overshadowed his eyes. - Word of the Lord.

Salmo 95/96
O céu se rejubile e exulte a terra!

Psalm 95/96
Heaven rejoice and rejoice the earth!
1. Sing to the Lord God a new song, † Sing to the Lord God, O whole earth! / Sing and bless your holy name!
2. Day after day announce your salvation, † manifest your glory among the nations / and, among the peoples of the universe, your wonders!
3. It was the Lord and our God who made the heavens: † Glory and majesty go before him / / and his temple, what beauty and splendor!

Evangelho

Gospel
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 2,22-35 - 22When the days for the purification of the mother and child were completed, according to the Law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. 23As it is written in the Law of the Lord: "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord." 24They also offered the sacrifice - a pair of doves or two lovebirds - as required by the Law of the Lord. 25 In Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon, who was just and godly and awaited the comfort of the people of Israel. The Holy Spirit was with him 26and had announced to him that he would not die before seeing the Messiah who comes from the Lord. 27Moved by the Spirit, Simeon came to the temple. When the parents brought the baby Jesus to fulfill what the Law ordered, 28Simeon took the baby in his arms and blessed God: 29 ″ Now, Lord, according to your promise, you can let your servant go in peace; 30for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared before all peoples: 32light to illuminate the nations and glory of your people Israel ”. 33 Jesus' father and mother were amazed at what they said about him. 34Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, the mother of Jesus: “This boy will be a cause of both fall and uplift for many in Israel. It will be a sign of contradiction. 35Thus the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. As for you, a sword will pierce your soul ”. - Word of salvation.

To think about
In obedience to the Law, Mary goes to the Temple for the rite of her purification and to consecrate her son. The Holy Spirit coordinates the meeting of Mary, Joseph and the boy with old Simeon. He was a representative of the prophets who ended Old Testament times in waiting for the Messiah. “Moved by the Holy Spirit”, Simeon goes to the Temple, takes the child in his arms and, in a song of thanksgiving, proclaims that God kept his promises by sending the Savior, not only to Israel, but also to all nations. The boy's father and mother are amazed at what they see and hear about him. Simeon blesses them and, with shocking realism, says to Mary: "This boy will be a sign of contradiction ... As for you, a sword will go through your soul".
