Nem todo aquele que me diz: ‘Senhor, Senhor’, entrará no Reino dos céus.
Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías 26,1-6 – 1Naquele dia, cantarão este canto em Judá: “Uma cidade fortificada é a nossa segurança; o Senhor cercou-a de muros e antemuro. 2Abri as suas portas, para que entre um povo justo, cumpridor da palavra, 3firme em seu propósito; e tu lhe conservarás a paz, porque confia em ti. 4Esperai no Senhor por todos os tempos, o Senhor é a rocha eterna. 5Ele derrubou os que habitam no alto, há de humilhar a cidade orgulhosa, deitando-a por terra até fazê-la beijar o chão. 6Hão de pisá-la os pés, os pés dos pobres, as passadas dos humildes”. – Palavra do Senhor.

1. Dai graças ao Senhor, porque ele é bom! / “Eterna é a sua misericórdia!” / É melhor buscar refúgio no Senhor / do que pôr no ser humano a esperança; / é melhor buscar refúgio no Senhor / do que contar com os poderosos deste mundo!
2. Abri-me vós, abri-me as portas da justiça; / quero entrar para dar graças ao Senhor! / “Sim, esta é a porta do Senhor, / por ela só os justos entrarão!” / Dou-vos graças, ó Senhor, porque me ouvistes / e vos tornastes para mim o salvador!

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

2. Open yourselves to me, open the doors of righteousness to me; / I want to come in to give thanks to the Lord! / "Yes, this is the Lord's door, / through it only the righteous will enter!" / I thank you, O Lord, because you have heard me / and you have become the savior for me!

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 7,21.24-27 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 21″Nem todo aquele que me diz: ‘Senhor, Senhor’, entrará no Reino dos céus, mas o que põe em prática a vontade de meu Pai que está nos céus. 24Portanto, quem ouve estas minhas palavras e as põe em prática é como um homem prudente, que construiu sua casa sobre a rocha. 25Caiu a chuva, vieram as enchentes, os ventos deram contra a casa, mas a casa não caiu, porque estava construída sobre a rocha. 26Por outro lado, quem ouve estas minhas palavras e não as põe em prática é como um homem sem juízo, que construiu sua casa sobre a areia. 27Caiu a chuva, vieram as enchentes, os ventos sopraram e deram contra a casa, e a casa caiu, e sua ruína foi completa!” – Palavra da salvação.

Para refletir
Jesus acaba de nos avisar: o que conta é assumir compromisso com a palavra dele e fazer a vontade do Pai celeste. E qual é a sua vontade? É exatamente o que Jesus realizou e nos deixou como exemplo e exigência. Ele próprio dizia: “Eu vim para que tenham vida e a tenham em abundância” (Jo 10,10). É socorrer o necessitado, erguer o caído, curar o ferido, consolar o aflito. É usar de misericórdia com aquele que precisa de mim. Cada boa obra é como um tijolinho que vamos alinhando na construção de nossa casa (vida) sobre a rocha inabalável (Cristo). Com qual “alicerce” estou construindo a minha vida?
To think about
Jesus has just warned us: what counts is to make a commitment to his word and do the will of the heavenly Father. And what is your will? It is exactly what Jesus accomplished and left us as an example and a requirement. He himself said: "I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance" (Jn 10:10). It is to help the needy, lift the fallen, heal the wounded, console the afflicted. It is to show mercy to those who need me. Each good work is like a brick that we align in the construction of our house (life) on the unshakable rock (Christ). On what “foundation” am I building my life?

Ó Jesus, deixaste claro que não basta invocar teu nome para entrar no Reino dos Céus. O que conta é cumprir a vontade do Teu e nosso Pai celeste. Queremos, pois, ouvir e pôr em prática Tuas palavras, certos de que estaremos edificando nossa vida sobre base sólida e perene. São Francisco Xavier, rogai por nós. Amém.
To Pray
O Jesus, you have made it clear that it is not enough to call on your name to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. What counts is to fulfill the will of Yours and our heavenly Father. We therefore want to hear and put Your words into practice, certain that we will be building our lives on a solid and lasting basis. Saint Francis Xavier, pray for us. Amen.
