Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías 29,17-24 – Assim fala o Senhor Deus: 17″Dentro de pouco tempo, não se transformará o Líbano em jardim? E não poderá o jardim tornar-se floresta? 18Naquele dia, os surdos ouvirão as palavras do livro e os olhos dos cegos verão no meio das trevas e das sombras. 19Os humildes aumentarão sua alegria no Senhor, e os mais pobres dos homens se rejubilarão no santo de Israel. 20Fracassou o prepotente, desapareceu o trapaceiro e sucumbiram todos os malfeitores precoces, 21os que faziam os outros pecar por palavras, e armavam ciladas ao juiz à porta da cidade, e atacavam o justo com palavras falsas”. 22Isto diz o Senhor à casa de Jacó, ele que libertou Abraão: “Agora, Jacó não mais terá que envergonhar-se nem seu rosto terá que enrubescer; 23quando contemplarem as obras de minhas mãos, hão de honrar meu nome no meio do povo, honrarão o santo de Jacó e temerão o Deus de Israel; 24os homens de espírito inconstante conseguirão sabedoria e os maldizentes concordarão em aprender”. – Palavra do Senhor.

1. O Senhor é minha luz e salvação; / de quem eu terei medo? / O Senhor é a proteção da minha vida; / perante quem eu tremerei?
2. Ao Senhor eu peço apenas uma coisa, / e é só isto que eu desejo: / habitar no santuário do Senhor / por toda a minha vida; / saborear a suavidade do Senhor / e contemplá-lo no seu templo.
3. Sei que a bondade do Senhor eu hei de ver / na terra dos viventes. / Espera no Senhor e tem coragem, / espera no Senhor!

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 9,27-31 – Naquele tempo, 27partindo Jesus, dois cegos o seguiram, gritando: “Tem piedade de nós, filho de Davi!” 28Quando Jesus entrou em casa, os cegos se aproximaram dele. Então, Jesus perguntou-lhes: “Vós acreditais que eu posso fazer isso?” Eles responderam: “Sim, Senhor”. 29Então Jesus tocou nos olhos deles, dizendo: “Faça-se conforme a vossa fé”. 30E os olhos deles se abriram. Jesus os advertiu severamente: “Tomai cuidado para que ninguém fique sabendo”. 31Mas eles saíram e espalharam sua fama por toda aquela região. – Palavra da salvação.

Para refletir
A cura dos dois cegos é fruto da fé que eles têm no poder de Jesus, o “Filho de Davi”, e da insistente súplica a Jesus, a quem “seguiram gritando”. Os dois cegos expressam seu profundo desejo de enxergar. Querem ser reintegrados na sociedade. Valorizando-lhes a fé sincera, Jesus lhes restitui a visão. Motivo bastante para os recém-curados saírem anunciando por toda a parte a bondade de Deus. Libertados da cegueira, terão novo modo de vida. Se Jesus pede que “ninguém fique sabendo”, é porque eles precisavam de melhor formação antes do anúncio correto a respeito do Messias. Além disso, Jesus quer preservar sua própria vida, não despertando tão cedo a inveja e a ira dos adversários do Reino. Afinal, Jesus tem ainda um longo caminho a percorrer fazendo o bem.
To think about
The healing of the two blind people is the result of their faith in the power of Jesus, the "Son of David", and of the insistent plea to Jesus, whom they "continued to cry out". The two blind men express their deep desire to see. They want to be reintegrated into society. Valuing their sincere faith, Jesus restores their vision. Reason enough for the newly healed to go out and proclaim God's goodness everywhere. Freed from blindness, they will have a new way of life. If Jesus asks “no one to know”, it is because they needed better training before the correct announcement about the Messiah. Furthermore, Jesus wants to preserve his own life, not so soon arousing the envy and wrath of opponents of the Kingdom. After all, Jesus still has a long way to go in doing good.

Divino Mestre, luz do mundo, aos dois cegos que te seguiam, implorando piedade e cura, deste a condição de enxergar. Abre, Senhor, nossos olhos para que possamos reconhecer-Te nos pobres e marginalizados de nossa sociedade, e firma nossos passos no caminho que nos conduz a Ti. Amém.
