Leitura do livro do Eclesiástico 3,3-7.14-17 – 3Deus honra o pai nos filhos e confirma, sobre eles, a autoridade da mãe. 4Quem honra o seu pai alcança o perdão dos pecados; evita cometê-los e será ouvido na oração quotidiana. 5Quem respeita a sua mãe é como alguém que ajunta tesouros. 6Quem honra o seu pai terá alegria com seus próprios filhos; e, no dia em que orar, será atendido. 7Quem respeita o seu pai terá vida longa, e quem obedece ao pai é o consolo da sua mãe. 14Meu filho, ampara o teu pai na velhice e não lhe causes desgosto enquanto ele vive. 15Mesmo que ele esteja perdendo a lucidez, procura ser compreensivo para com ele; não o humilhes em nenhum dos dias de sua vida: a caridade feita a teu pai não será esquecida, 16mas servirá para reparar os teus pecados 17e, na justiça, será para tua edificação. – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 2,22-40 ou 22.39-40 – [22Quando se completaram os dias para a purificação da mãe e do filho, conforme a Lei de Moisés, Maria e José levaram Jesus a Jerusalém, a fim de apresentá-lo ao Senhor.] 23Conforme está escrito na Lei do Senhor: “Todo primogênito do sexo masculino deve ser consagrado ao Senhor”. 24Foram também oferecer o sacrifício – um par de rolas ou dois pombinhos -, como está ordenado na Lei do Senhor. 25Em Jerusalém havia um homem chamado Simeão, o qual era justo e piedoso e esperava a consolação do povo de Israel. Ao apresentar o recém-nascido no Templo de Jerusalém, oferecendo um par de pombinhos (oferta dos pobres), a Família de Nazaré – Jesus, Maria e José – cumpre as determinações da lei mosaica. Com isso, mostra que está bem inserida na ordem social. Simeão, homem justo e piedoso, toma o menino nos braços e louva a Deus, pois vê naquela criança a salvação do seu povo. Além disso, profetiza sobre as consequências que adviriam à mãe. Nesse texto, a presença da Família de Nazaré proporciona um clima de alegria e acolhimento entre os pobres que se encontram no Templo. Ao mesmo tempo, já se percebe o futuro conflito dessa criança com autoridades e poderosos. O texto revela a importância da família na vida dos filhos. A família é o lugar privilegiado da evangelização, onde a criança respira otimismo e alegria, fé e compromisso social, presença de Deus ou, ao contrário, indiferença. Com o gesto de apresentar seu filho a Deus, Maria e José revelam que os filhos pertencem a Deus e à sociedade.
To think about
When presenting the newborn child in the Jerusalem Temple, offering a pair of lovebirds (offering from the poor), the Family of Nazareth - Jesus, Mary and Joseph - complies with the Mosaic Law. With that, it shows that it is well inserted in the social order. Simeon, a just and pious man, takes the boy in his arms and praises God, for he sees in that child the salvation of his people. In addition, it prophesies about the consequences that would come to the mother. In this text, the presence of the Family of Nazaré provides a climate of joy and welcome among the poor who are in the Temple. At the same time, the child's future conflict with authorities and powerful people is already being perceived. The text reveals the importance of the family in the children's lives. The family is the privileged place of evangelization, where the child breathes optimism and joy, faith and social commitment, the presence of God or, on the contrary, indifference. With the gesture of presenting their son to God, Mary and Joseph reveal that their children belong to God and to society.
