Do not judge and you will not be judged..

Evangelho - Mateus 7,1-5

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: ¹“Não julgueis e não sereis julgados. ²Pois vós sereis julgados com o mesmo julgamento com que julgardes; e sereis medidos com a mesma medida com que medirdes. ³Por que observas o cisco no olho do teu irmão e não prestas atenção à trave que está no teu próprio olho? ⁴Ou como podes dizer ao teu irmão: ‘Deixa-me tirar o cisco do teu olho’, quando tu mesmo tens uma trave no teu? ⁵Hipócrita, tira primeiro a trave do teu próprio olho e então enxergarás bem para tirar o cisco do olho do teu irmão”. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ According to Matthew - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 1 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. 2 For you shall be judged with the same judgment with which you judge; and you shall be measured with the same measure that you measure. 3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the beam that is in your own eye? 4Ou how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself have a beam in yours? 5Hypocrit, first take the beam out of thine own eye, and thou shalt see well to take the speck out of thy brother's eye. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Jesus puxa um assunto de extrema atualidade. As imagens do cisco e da trave são tão claras e eloquentes, que todos podem compreender. Nossa visão é enganosa: vemos, com lentes de aumento, os defeitos alheios, ao passo que escondemos os nossos. Contra essa tendência maligna é que Jesus nos adverte. Não temos condições para julgar ninguém de modo justo; somente Deus conhece o íntimo das pessoas. Então é necessário empenhar-nos a fim de corrigir nossos erros. Isso é exigente. Requer constante exame de consciência e profundo desejo de conversão. Lembramos, enfim, que os defeitos alheios que nos irritam são os nossos próprios defeitos. Preciosa indicação para sabermos o que aperfeiçoar em nós. Somos imperfeitos. Caminhamos confiando-nos à misericórdia de Deus.
 
Reflecting the Gospel

Jesus draws a matter of extreme actuality. The images of mote and beam are so clear and eloquent, that everyone can understand. Our vision is misleading: we see, with magnifying glasses, the faults of others, while we hide ours. Against this evil tendency is that Jesus warns us. We are not able to judge anyone fairly; only God knows the inmost of people. So we have to work hard to correct our mistakes. This is demanding. It requires constant examination of conscience and deep desire for conversion. Finally, we remember that the defects of others that irritate us are our own defects. Precious indication to know what to perfect in us. We are imperfect. We walk trusting in the mercy of God.

Let your hand help us, O Lord. Thou hast rejected thy people, O God, and dashed our ranks; / you are angry: return! Thou hast shaken thyself, thou hast broken the earth; / You have tasted the people hard, and a dazzling wine in them. Who brings me to the safe city, and to Edom who will lead me, / if you, God, reject your people / and no longer lead our troops? Give us, O God, your help in trouble; Nothing is worth the help of men! / But with God we will do exploits, / and he will crush the oppressor. Psalm 59/60.
