Evangelho - Mateus 5,27-32

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: ²⁷“Ouvistes o que foi dito: ‘Não cometerás adultério’. ²⁸Eu, porém, vos digo, todo aquele que olhar para uma mulher com o desejo de possuí-la já cometeu adultério com ela no seu coração. ²⁹Se o teu olho direito é para ti ocasião de pecado, arranca-o e joga-o para longe de ti! De fato, é melhor perder um de teus membros do que todo o teu corpo ser jogado no inferno. ³⁰Se a tua mão direita é para ti ocasião de pecado, corta-a e joga-a para longe de ti! De fato, é melhor perder um dos teus membros do que todo o teu corpo ir para o inferno. ³¹Foi dito também: ‘Quem se divorciar de sua mulher, dê-lhe uma certidão de divórcio’. ³²Eu, porém, vos digo, todo aquele que se divorcia de sua mulher, a não ser por motivo de união irregular, faz com que ela se torne adúltera; e quem se casa com a mulher divorciada comete adultério”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Matthew 5,27-32

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 27 "Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery. 28 But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with a desire to possess her has already committed adultery with her in her heart. 29 If your right eye is an occasion of sin for you, pluck it out and throw it away from you! In fact, it is better to lose one of your limbs than your whole body be thrown into hell. 30If your right hand is an occasion for sin, cut it off and throw it away from you! Refletindo o Evangelho

As leis do Antigo Testamento eram tolerantes para o homem e severas para a mulher. De fato, a mulher era considerada uma espécie de propriedade que o homem adquiria, e assim ela passava a fazer parte dos seus bens. Agressiva desigualdade entre homem e mulher. Jesus, porém, coloca-os no mesmo plano. O adultério viola a vontade de Deus e as relações familiares e sociais. A união do homem e da mulher no matrimônio é expressão de amor, vem de Deus, não deve ser paixão egoísta. É o encontro de liberdades que se unem. Por isso, Jesus usa expressões fortes para indicar compromisso sério, evitando-se desvios egoístas. Às vezes são necessários “cortes” dolorosos para salvar e revigorar o amor mútuo. Trata-se aqui naturalmente de linguagem simbólica, uma vez que o adultério começa no coração.
 
Reflecting the Gospel

The laws of the Old Testament were tolerant to man and severe to woman. In fact, the woman was considered a kind of property that the man acquired, and so it became part of his property.
