1a. Leitura - Romanos 11,29-36

Leitura da carta de são Paulo aos Romanos – Irmãos, ²⁹ os dons e a vocação de Deus são irrevogáveis. ³⁰ Outrora, vós fostes desobedientes a Deus, mas agora alcançastes misericórdia em consequência da desobediência deles. ³¹ Assim são eles agora os desobedientes, para que, em consequência da misericórdia usada convosco, alcancem finalmente misericórdia. ³² Com efeito, Deus encerrou todos os homens na desobediência, a fim de exercer misericórdia para com todos. ³³ Ó profundidade da riqueza, da sabedoria e da ciência de Deus! Como são inescrutáveis os seus juízos e impenetráveis os seus caminhos! ³⁴ De fato, quem conheceu o pensamento do Senhor? Ou quem foi seu conselheiro? ³⁵ Ou quem se antecipou em dar-lhe alguma coisa, de maneira a ter direito a uma retribuição? ³⁶ Na verdade, tudo é dele, por ele e para ele. A ele, a glória para sempre. Amém! – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, ¹² dizia Jesus ao chefe dos fariseus que o tinha convidado: “Quando tu deres um almoço ou um jantar, não convides teus amigos, nem teus irmãos, nem teus parentes, nem teus vizinhos ricos. Pois estes poderiam também convidar-te e isso já seria a tua recompensa. ¹³ Pelo contrário, quando deres uma festa, convida os pobres, os aleijados, os coxos, os cegos. ¹⁴ Então tu serás feliz! Porque eles não te podem retribuir. Tu receberás a recompensa na ressurreição dos justos”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 14,12-14

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Somos influenciados por uma sociedade mercantilista, onde tudo tem preço; nada se faz sem pagamento. Essa mentalidade afeta também os cristãos, não obstante os insistentes convites de Jesus a embrenhar-nos pelos caminhos da gratuidade. É a lição que nos vem do evangelho de hoje. A orientação do Mestre é fazer o bem aos que não podem retribuir com a mesma moeda. Acudir generosamente aos fracos e praticar a caridade desinteressada são exercícios salutares e recomendáveis para assemelhar-nos a Jesus, que tudo ofereceu, sem nada esperar em troca. Não se trata apenas de repartir bens materiais, mas podemos incluir, entre as dádivas, o tempo, a compreensão, o bom conselho. Além de experimentar alegria pelo gesto em si, seremos beneficiados com a recompensa na “ressurreição dos justos”.

Reflecting the Gospel

We are influenced by a mercantilist society, where everything has a price; nothing is done without payment. This mindset affects also the Christians, despite the insistent invitations from Jesus to drown us in the paths of gratuity. Is the lesson that comes from the Gospel of today. The orientation of the master is to do good to those who cannot reciprocate in kind. Help generously to the weak and the charity are healthy and recommended exercises disinterested to resemble us Jesus, everything offered, with nothing expected in return. It is not just to share material goods, but can include, among the gifts, time, understanding, good advice. In addition to experience joy for the gesture itself, we will be benefited with the reward on "resurrection of the righteous".
