1a. Leitura - Romanos 5,12.15.17-21

Leitura da carta de são Paulo aos Romanos – Irmãos, ¹² o pecado entrou no mundo por um só homem. Através do pecado, entrou a morte. E a morte passou para todos os homens, porque todos pecaram. ¹⁵ A transgressão de um só levou a multidão humana à morte, mas foi de modo bem mais superior que a graça de Deus, ou seja, o dom gratuito concedido através de um só homem, Jesus Cristo, se derramou em abundância sobre todos. ¹⁷ Por um só homem, pela falta de um só homem, a morte começou a reinar. Muito mais reinarão na vida, pela mediação de um só, Jesus Cristo, os que recebem o dom gratuito e superabundante da justiça. ¹⁸ Como a falta de um só acarretou condenação para todos os homens, assim o ato de justiça de um só trouxe, para todos os homens, a justificação que dá a vida. ¹⁹ Com efeito, como, pela desobediência de um só homem, a humanidade toda foi estabelecida numa situação de pecado, assim também, pela obediência de um só, toda a humanidade passará para uma situação de justiça. ²⁰ Porém, onde se multiplicou o pecado, aí superabundou a graça. ²¹ Enfim, como o pecado tem reinado pela morte, que a graça reine pela justiça, para a vida eterna, por Jesus Cristo, Senhor nosso. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - Romans 5,12.15.17-21
Reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans – Brothers, 12 sin entered the world through one man. Through sin, death came in. And death passed to all men, because all sinned. 15 the transgression of one brought the human crowd to death, but it was so much more than the grace of God, that is, the free gift given by one man, Jesus Christ, if spilled in abundance over all. 17 By a man, the lack of one man, death began to reign. Evangelho - Lucas 12,35-38

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: ³⁵ “Que vossos rins estejam cingidos e as lâmpadas acesas. ³⁶ Sede como homens que estão esperando seu senhor voltar de uma festa de casamento para lhe abrirem imediatamente a porta, logo que ele chegar e bater. ³⁷ Felizes os empregados que o senhor encontrar acordados quando chegar. Em verdade eu vos digo, ele mesmo vai cingir-se, fazê-los sentar-se à mesa e, passando, os servirá. ³⁸ E caso ele chegue à meia-noite ou às três da madrugada, felizes serão se assim os encontrar!” – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 12,35-38
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke-at that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 35 "That your kidneys are girded and your lamps burning. Refletindo o Evangelho  

Rins cingidos e lâmpadas acesas indicam prontidão e vigilância ativa. Mergulhados no corre-corre do dia a dia, na administração dos bens terrenos, as pessoas deixam escapar a ocasião de viver os valores do Reino. Este é o perigo que ronda todos os que vivem cercados de constantes propostas e seduções da sociedade de consumo. O cristão vive no mundo sem ser do mundo, como afirmava Jesus a respeito de seus discípulos (Jo 17,11.16). A comunidade deve estar em contínua vigilância, fiel à palavra e à ação de Jesus. Que o mundo não nos distraia de nossos compromissos cristãos. Assim, quando o Senhor nos visitar com sua graça ou na hora de nossa morte, nos encontre de prontidão a serviço da justiça e da fraternidade. Jesus mesmo nos honrará com seus favores.

Reflecting the Gospel
Girded loins and lighted lamps indicate readiness and active surveillance. Dipped in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, in the administration of the worldly goods, people leave to escape the opportunity to live the values of the Kingdom. This is the danger that surrounds all living surrounded by constant proposals and seductions of consumer society. The Christian lives in the world without being of the world, as stated Jesus about his disciples (Jn 17, 11.16). The community must be in continuous surveillance, true to the word and the action of Jesus. The world won't distract us from our commitments. So, when you visit with your free or at the hour of our death, we find standing by the service of Justice and brotherhood. Jesus himself will honor us with your favors.
