Here is someone who is greater than Solomon and Jonah.

Porque ela veio de uma terra distante para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão. E aqui está quem é maior do que Salomão. 32 No dia do julgamento, os ninivitas se levantarão juntamente com esta geração e a condenarão. Porque eles se converteram quando ouviram a pregação de Jonas. E aqui está quem é maior do que Jonas”. – Palavra da salvação.

Jesus sente que suas palavras e obras não encontram acolhimento no coração de seus conterrâneos, sobretudo dos dirigentes do povo. De vez em quando, ele é desafiado a exibir algum prodígio espetacular, capaz de convencê-los de que ele é verdadeiramente o Filho de Deus. No entanto, basta-lhes o eloquente sinal de Jonas. Jesus classifica esta geração como malvada, isto é, aferrada a uma instituição que não abre mão de privilégios, que não aceita a proposta de uma sociedade assentada na prática da justiça e da fraternidade. É uma geração tão avessa à presença e mensagem de Jesus, que no dia do Julgamento será condenada. Não por Jesus, mas pelos que se converteram com a pregação de Salomão e de Jonas. Aqui está alguém (Jesus) que é maior do que Salomão e Jonas.
