Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 5,43-48 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 43“Vós ouvistes o que foi dito: ‘Amarás o teu próximo e odiarás o teu inimigo!’ 44Eu, porém, vos digo, amai os vossos inimigos e rezai por aqueles que vos perseguem! 45Assim vos tornareis filhos do vosso Pai que está nos céus, porque ele faz nascer o sol sobre maus e bons e faz cair a chuva sobre justos e injustos. 46Porque, se amais somente aqueles que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Os cobradores de impostos não fazem a mesma coisa? 47E se saudais somente os vossos irmãos, o que fazeis de extraordinário? Os pagãos não fazem a mesma coisa? 48Portanto, sede perfeitos como o vosso Pai celeste é perfeito”. – Palavra da salvação.

Jesus, Tu nos dás uma ordem no mínimo desconcertante: a de amar nossos inimigos. No entanto, o afirmas com base na perfeição do Pai celeste, que acode a bons e maus, a justos e injustos. Deus não faz acepção de pessoas. Dá-nos, Senhor, disposição para cumprir essa exigência divina. Amém.
To Pray
Jesus, you give us an order that is at least disconcerting: that of loving our enemies. However, you affirm it based on the perfection of the heavenly Father, who assists the good and the bad, the just and the unjust. God is no respecter of persons. Give us, Lord, a willingness to fulfill this divine requirement. Amen.
