As montanhas se desmanchariam diante de ti. 64,2Desceste, pois, e as montanhas se derreteram diante de ti. 3Nunca se ouviu dizer nem chegou aos ouvidos de ninguém, jamais olhos viram que um Deus, exceto tu, tenha feito tanto pelos que nele esperam. 4Vens ao encontro de quem pratica a justiça com alegria, de quem se lembra de ti em teus caminhos. E mandou o porteiro ficar vigiando. 35Vigiai, portanto, porque não sabeis quando o dono da casa vem: à tarde, à meia-noite, de madrugada ou ao amanhecer. 36Para que não suceda que, vindo de repente, ele vos encontre dormindo. 37O que vos digo, digo a todos: vigiai!” – Palavra da salvação.

Pay attention, because you do not know when the time will come. 34It is like a man who, when he left abroad, left his home under the responsibility of his employees, distributing his task to each one. And he ordered the porter to watch. 35 Watch therefore, because you do not know when the owner of the house comes: in the afternoon, at midnight, at dawn or at dawn. 36Let it not happen that, coming suddenly, he finds you sleeping. 37What I say to you, I say to everyone: watch! ” - Word of salvation.
Para refletir
Iniciamos o Tempo do Advento com apelo à vigilância. Para ilustrar esse tema, o autor conta uma parábola: o dono da casa vai viajar e deixa seus servos responsáveis pelo cuidado da casa e dos negócios até que ele volte. O momento da volta, porém, é incerto, por isso a necessidade de ficarem “acordados”. A ausência do dono pode ser uma metáfora da ausência de Cristo, entre a primeira e a segunda vinda. Durante essa ausência, Cristo confia sua causa a nós, sua comunidade. Não sabemos quando ele voltará para pedir contas do serviço que nos confiou, daí o apelo à vigilância: não nos acomodando, mas levando em frente a tarefa que nos confiou. O apelo desse evangelho é muito interessante, porque nos anima a estar sempre olhando para a frente, atuando, alimentando a esperança de um futuro sempre melhor. Quem não vive nessa perspectiva de espera acaba se acomodando.
To think about
We started the Advent Season with an appeal to vigilance. To illustrate this theme, the author tells a parable: the owner of the house is going to travel and leaves his servants responsible for the care of the house and business until he returns. The moment of the return, however, is uncertain, so the need to stay "awake". The absence of the owner can be a metaphor for the absence of Christ, between the first and the second coming. During this absence, Christ entrusts his cause to us, his community. We do not know when he will return to ask for accounts of the service he has entrusted to us, hence the call for vigilance: not accommodating us, but carrying on with the task he has entrusted to us. The appeal of this gospel is very interesting, because it encourages us to be always looking forward, acting, feeding the hope of an ever better future. Who does not live in this perspective of waiting ends up settling.

Senhor Jesus, dá-nos a consciência de que nossa vida aqui na terra é passageira e não sabemos a hora e as circunstâncias de nossa passagem para a eternidade. Por isso, Te pedimos: mantém-nos atentos e empenhados em praticar constantemente os Teus ensinamentos. Amém.

Lord Jesus, give us the awareness that our life here on earth is fleeting and we do not know the time and circumstances of our passage into eternity. Therefore, we ask You: keep us attentive and committed to constantly practicing Your teachings. Amen.
