Leitura da segunda carta de São João 1,4-9 – 4Muito me alegrei, senhora, por ter encontrado alguns dos teus filhos que caminham conforme a verdade, segundo o mandamento que recebemos do Pai. 5E agora, senhora, eu te peço – não que te esteja escrevendo a respeito de um novo mandamento, pois trata-se daquele que temos desde o princípio -, amemo-nos uns aos outros. 6E amar consiste no seguinte: em viver conforme os seus mandamentos. Este é o mandamento que ouvistes desde o início para guiar o vosso proceder. 7Acontece que se espalharam pelo mundo muitos sedutores, que não confessam a Jesus Cristo encarnado. Está aí o sedutor, o anticristo. 8Tomai cuidado, se não quereis perder o fruto do vosso trabalho, mas sim receber a plena recompensa. 9Todo o que não permanece na doutrina de Cristo, mas passa além, não possui a Deus. Aquele que permanece na doutrina é o que possui o Pai e o Filho. – Palavra do Senhor.

Para refletir
Muitas pessoas, inclusive seguidoras de Cristo, levam vida focada apenas em coisas terrenas, apegadas aos bens materiais. A destruição e a morte pegaram de surpresa os conterrâneos de Noé e de Ló. Dois modelos a imitar no desapego e na renúncia a si mesmos; no zelo pelas coisas de Deus e na fé. Importa prestar atenção, porque virá também o “dia do Filho do Homem”. O caminho da salvação é um caminho de renúncia ao próprio egoísmo e de dedicação à prática da justiça. “Perder a vida”, na verdade, é orientá-la no rumo justo, colocá-la a serviço do Mestre. De alguma forma haverá um julgamento definitivo, coroamento e glória para quem permanecer fiel a Cristo e a seu Reino. Entretanto, a salvação de cada um acontece dia a dia na sua história pessoal.
To think about
Many people, including followers of Christ, lead lives focused only on earthly things, attached to material goods. Destruction and death took Noé and Lot's countrymen by surprise. Two models to imitate in detachment and self-denial; in zeal for the things of God and in faith. It is important to pay attention, because the “day of the Son of Man” will also come. The way of salvation is a way of renouncing selfishness and dedicating yourself to the practice of justice. “Losing your life”, in fact, is to guide you in the right direction, to put you at the service of the Master. Somehow there will be a final judgment, crowning and glory for those who remain faithful to Christ and his Kingdom. However, each person's salvation happens day by day in their personal history.
