Leitura da carta de São Paulo aos Filipenses 2,5-11 – Irmãos, 5tende entre vós o mesmo sentimento que existe em Cristo Jesus. 6Jesus Cristo, existindo em condição divina, não fez do ser igual a Deus uma usurpação, 7mas ele esvaziou-se a si mesmo, assumindo a condição de escravo e tornando-se igual aos homens. Encontrado com aspecto humano, 8humilhou-se a si mesmo, fazendo-se obediente até a morte, e morte de cruz. 9Por isso, Deus o exaltou acima de tudo e lhe deu o nome que está acima de todo nome. 10Assim, ao nome de Jesus, todo joelho se dobre no céu, na terra e abaixo da terra 11e toda língua proclame: “Jesus Cristo é o Senhor”, para a glória de Deus Pai. – Palavra do Senhor.

O primeiro disse: ‘Comprei um campo e preciso ir vê-lo. Peço-te que aceites minhas desculpas’. 19Um outro disse: ‘Comprei cinco juntas de bois e vou experimentá-las. Peço-te que aceites minhas desculpas’. 20Um terceiro disse: ‘Acabo de me casar e, por isso, não posso ir’. 21O empregado voltou e contou tudo ao patrão. Então o dono da casa ficou muito zangado e disse ao empregado: ‘Sai depressa pelas praças e ruas da cidade. Traze para cá os pobres, os aleijados, os cegos e os coxos’. 22O empregado disse: ‘Senhor, o que tu mandaste fazer foi feito e ainda há lugar’. 23O patrão disse ao empregado: ‘Sai pelas estradas e atalhos e obriga as pessoas a virem aqui, para que minha casa fique cheia. 24Pois eu vos digo, nenhum daqueles que foram convidados provará do meu banquete'”. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 14,15-24 - At that time, a man at the table said to Jesus: “Happy is he who eats bread in the Kingdom of God!” 16Jesus replied: “A man gave a great feast and invited many people. 17At the time of the banquet, he sent his employee to say to the guests: 'Come, because everything is ready'. 18But everyone, one by one, began to make excuses. The first said: 'I bought a field and I need to go and see it. I ask you to accept my apologies'. 19 Another said: 'I bought five sets of oxen and I'm going to try them out. I ask you to accept my apologies'. 20A third said: 'I just got married and, therefore, I can't go'. The employee came back and told the boss everything. So the owner of the house was very angry and said to the employee: ‘Get out quickly through the squares and streets of the city. Bring here the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame. Parábola dos três convites ao banquete. O dono da casa é figura de Deus que, por meio dos profetas e do seu Filho Jesus, chama todos à salvação. Os dois primeiros convidados não comparecem, por motivos de negócios; o terceiro, porque tinha casado. Representam o povo de Israel, que rejeitou o Messias. Deus certamente se aborrece com a recusa do benefício. A segunda leva de convidados tem uma característica: são “pobres, aleijados, cegos e coxos”. Habitantes da cidade, porém malvistos e até desprezados pela sociedade. Representam os desprezados de Israel. Um terceiro grupo de convidados engloba pessoas de fora da cidade. Indica a missão entre os pagãos. Deus quer a casa cheia. Ele convida generosamente para a festa do Reino, mas respeita a liberdade dos convidados.

Parable of the three invitations to the banquet. The owner of the house is a figure of God who, through the prophets and his Son Jesus, calls everyone to salvation. The first two guests do not attend, for business reasons; the third, because he was married. They represent the people of Israel, who rejected the Messiah. Ó Jesus, não cessas de convidar “muita gente” para o banquete do Reino de Deus. Envolvidos com os bens terrenos, muitos convidados se desculpam e não comparecem. Estes não provarão do Teu banquete. Chamas novos adeptos. Dá-nos, Senhor, discernimento para priorizar as realidades do Teu Reino. Amém.
To Pray
O Jesus, do not cease to invite “many people” to the banquet of the Kingdom of God. Involved with earthly goods, many guests apologize and do not attend. These will not taste Your banquet. Flames new fans. Give us, Lord, discernment to prioritize the realities of Your Kingdom. Amen.
