Leitura do livro da Sabedoria 6,12-16 – 12A sabedoria é resplandecente e sempre viçosa. Ela é facilmente contemplada por aqueles que a amam, e é encontrada por aqueles que a procuram. 13Ela até se antecipa, dando-se a conhecer aos que a desejam. 14Quem por ela madruga não se cansará, pois a encontrará sentada à sua porta. 15Meditar sobre ela é a perfeição da prudência; e quem ficar acordado por causa dela em breve há de viver despreocupado. 16Pois ela mesma sai à procura dos que a merecem, cheia de bondade, aparece-lhes nas estradas e vai ao seu encontro em todos os seus projetos. – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 25,1-13 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus a seus discípulos esta parábola: 1“O Reino dos céus é como a história das dez jovens que pegaram suas lâmpadas de óleo e saíram ao encontro do noivo. 2Cinco delas eram imprevidentes, e as outras cinco eram previdentes. 3As imprevidentes pegaram as suas lâmpadas, mas não levaram óleo consigo. 4As previdentes, porém, levaram vasilhas com óleo junto com as lâmpadas. 5O noivo estava demorando, e todas elas acabaram cochilando e dormindo. 6No meio da noite, ouviu-se um grito: ‘O noivo está chegando. Ide ao seu encontro!’ 7Então as dez jovens se levantaram e prepararam as lâmpadas. 8As imprevidentes disseram às previdentes: ‘Dai-nos um pouco de óleo, porque nossas lâmpadas estão se apagando’. 9As previdentes responderam: ‘De modo nenhum, porque o óleo pode ser insuficiente para nós e para vós. É melhor irdes comprar aos vendedores’. 10Enquanto elas foram comprar óleo, o noivo chegou, e as que estavam preparadas entraram com ele para a festa de casamento. E a porta se fechou. 11Por fim, chegaram também as outras jovens e disseram: ‘Senhor! Senhor! Abre-nos a porta!’ 12Ele, porém, respondeu: ‘Em verdade eu vos digo, não vos conheço!’ 13Portanto, ficai vigiando, pois não sabeis qual será o dia nem a hora”. -Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 25, 1-13 - At that time, Jesus told his disciples this parable: 1 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the story of the ten young women who took their oil lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom . 2 Five of them were unforeseen, and the other five were provident. 3 The unforeseen took their lamps, but did not take oil with them. 4Provident employees, however, took oil containers along with the lamps. 5The groom was taking too long, and they all ended up dozing and sleeping. 6In the middle of the night, a cry was heard: ‘The groom is coming. Go to him! ’7Then the ten young women got up and prepared the lamps. 8The unforeseen said to the provident: 'Give us some oil, because our lamps are going out'. 9The prospective respondents replied: 'Not at all, because the oil may be insufficient for us and for you. You better go buy from the sellers ’. 10While they went to buy oil, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went with him to the wedding feast. And the door closed. 11 Finally, the other young women also came and said: ‘Lord! Sir! Para refletir
O Reino dos Céus é o tema central da pregação de Jesus; por isso, ele usa comparações, parábolas, alegorias e realidades cotidianas (símbolos) para explicá-lo. Mais uma vez, Mateus usa uma parábola para explicar a que se assemelha o Reino dos Céus. Ele é como dez jovens com suas tochas: cinco eram prevenidas (levaram reserva de azeite) e cinco desprevenidas (não levaram reserva de azeite). O noivo atrasa, e o azeite vai se esgotando. A conclusão é clara: vigiem, porque não sabem a hora em que o noivo chega. Contada no tempo de Mateus, quando a comunidade esperava a volta de Cristo (o noivo) em breve, a parábola lembra que o noivo pode atrasar. É necessário continuar mantendo a esperança e ficar vigilante. No final do ano litúrgico, a Igreja nos leva a refletir sobre a necessidade de estar preparados (com reserva de azeite), mantendo sempre a lâmpada acesa para aguardar o momento imprevisto da vinda de Jesus no fim dos tempos.
To think about
The Kingdom of Heaven is the central theme of Jesus' preaching; therefore, he uses comparisons, parables, allegories and everyday realities (symbols) to explain it. Again, Matthew uses a parable to explain what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. He is like ten young men with their torches: five were prevented (they took oil reserves) and five were unprepared (they did not take oil reserves). The groom is late, and the oil runs out. The conclusion is clear: watch, because they do not know the time when the groom arrives. Told in the time of Matthew, when the community expected Christ (the bridegroom) to return soon, the parable recalls that the bridegroom may be late. It is necessary to continue to maintain hope and to be vigilant. At the end of the liturgical year, the Church leads us to reflect on the need to be prepared (with a reserve of oil), always keeping the lamp on to wait for the unforeseen moment of Jesus' coming at the end of time.

Senhor Jesus, és o “noivo” da comunidade cristã. Tu nos alertas para estarmos preparados para tua vinda, pois podes chegar a qualquer momento. Ilumina-nos para que permaneçamos vigilantes e fiéis cumpridores das exigências do Teu Reino. És o Deus-conosco e queremos estar contigo para sempre. Amém.
To Pray
Lord Jesus, you are the “bridegroom” of the Christian community. You warn us to be prepared for your coming, as you can arrive at any time. Enlighten us so that we remain vigilant and faithful in fulfilling the demands of Your Kingdom. You are the God-with us and we want to be with you forever. Amen.
