Leitura da profecia de Zacarias 2,14-17 – 14“Rejubila, alegra-te, cidade de Sião, eis que venho para habitar no meio de ti, diz o Senhor. 15Muitas nações se aproximarão do Senhor naquele dia e serão o seu povo. Habitarei no meio de ti, e saberás que o Senhor dos exércitos me enviou a ti. 16O Senhor entrará em posse de Judá, como sua porção na terra santa, e escolherá de novo Jerusalém. 17Emudeça todo mortal diante do Senhor, ele acaba de levantar-se de sua santa habitação”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Tua mãe e teus irmãos estão aí fora e querem falar contigo”. 48Jesus perguntou àquele que tinha falado: “Quem é minha mãe e quem são meus irmãos?” 49E, estendendo a mão para os discípulos, Jesus disse: “Eis minha mãe e meus irmãos. 50Pois todo aquele que faz a vontade do meu Pai, que está nos céus, esse é meu irmão, minha irmã e minha mãe”. – Palavra da salvação.

Celebrada no Oriente desde o século 6º e no Ocidente desde o século 14, a Apresentação de Nossa Senhora, realça a mãe de Jesus como modelo de toda pessoa consagrada ao Senhor, pois se refere à primeira doação que Maria fez de si mesma. Alegrando-nos com Nossa Senhora nesta liturgia, exaltemos a Deus pelos grandes prodígios que Ele realizou em sua vida. Os evangelhos nada informam a respeito da infância de Maria. Entretanto, à luz do que conhecemos, intuímos que a infância e a adolescência da Mãe de Deus foram totalmente assinaladas pela graça de Deus. Mesmo sem levar em conta as edificantes histórias dos evangelhos apócrifos, podemos entrever uma clara mensagem que emerge da festa da Apresentação de Nossa Senhora: o coração de Maria sempre esteve voltado para a vontade de Deus. O surgimento dessa festa deu-se no Oriente, no século VI. Somente no século XIV é que Roma a introduziu no seu calendário litúrgico. Não obstante as incertezas, devidas à falta de fundamentação bíblica e histórica, a celebração foi mantida no atual Calendário romano, não como festa, mas como “memória”.

Celebrated in the East since the 6th century and in the West since the 14th century, the Presentation of Our Lady highlights the mother of Jesus as a model for every person consecrated to the Lord, as it refers to Mary's first donation of herself. Rejoicing with Our Lady in this liturgy, let us exalt God for the great wonders he has done in his life. The Gospels tell us nothing about Mary's childhood. However, in the light of what we know, we intuit that the childhood and adolescence of the Mother of God were totally marked by the grace of God. Even without taking into account the edifying stories of the apocryphal gospels, we can glimpse a clear message that emerges from the feast of the Presentation of Our Lady: Mary's heart has always been focused on the will of God. The appearance of this festival took place in the East, in the 6th century. Only in the 14th century did Rome introduce it into its liturgical calendar. Despite the uncertainties, due to the lack of biblical and historical grounds, the celebration was maintained in the current Roman Calendar, not as a feast, but as "memory".

Ó Jesus, filho de Maria, grande é a estima do povo cristão por tua Mãe Santíssima. Por isso, incentivaram as autoridades da Igreja a instituir uma celebração litúrgica como memória da Apresentação de Nossa Senhora no Templo. Renova, Senhor, nosso interesse e zelo pela casa e pelas coisas de Deus. Amém.
