Leitura da profecia de Ezequiel 47,1-2.8-9.12 – Naqueles dias, 1o homem fez-me voltar até a entrada do templo, e eis que saía água da sua parte subterrânea na direção leste, porque o templo estava voltado para o oriente; a água corria do lado direito do templo, a sul do altar. 2Ele fez-me sair pela porta que dá para o norte e fez-me dar uma volta por fora até a porta que dá para o leste, onde eu vi a água jorrando do lado direito. 8Então ele me disse: “Estas águas correm para a região oriental, descem para o vale do Jordão, desembocam nas águas salgadas do mar, e elas se tornarão saudáveis. 9Aonde o rio chegar, todos os animais que ali se movem poderão viver. Haverá peixes em quantidade, pois ali desembocam as águas que trazem saúde; e haverá vida aonde chegar o rio. 12Nas margens junto ao rio, de ambos os lados, crescerá toda espécie de árvores frutíferas; suas folhas não murcharão, e seus frutos jamais se acabarão: cada mês darão novos frutos, pois as águas que banham as árvores saem do santuário. Seus frutos servirão de alimento, e suas folhas serão remédio”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading Ezekiel's prophecy 47,1-2.8-9.12 - In those days, 1st man made me go back to the entrance of the temple, and, behold, water was flowing from its underground part towards the east, because the temple was facing the east; water ran from the right side of the temple, south of the altar. 2He made me go out through the north-facing door and made me take an outward walk to the east-facing door, where I saw water gushing from the right side. 8Then he said to me: “These waters flow into the eastern region, descend into the Jordan valley, flow into the salty waters of the sea, and they will become healthy. 9Where the river reaches, all the animals that move there will be able to live. There will be fish in quantity, because the waters that bring health there flow; and there will be life where the river reaches. 12 On the banks of the river, on both sides, all kinds of fruit trees will grow; its leaves will not wither, and its fruit will never end: each month they will bear new fruit, for the waters that bathe the trees come out of the sanctuary. Its fruits will serve as food, and its leaves will be medicine ”. - Word of the Lord.

The arms of a river bring joy / to the city of God, to the abode of the Most High.
1. The Lord for us is refuge and strength, / always ready, he showed himself to be a help in anguish; / so we are not afraid if the earth trembles, / if the mountains collapse, falling into the seas.

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 2,13-22 – 13Estava próxima a Páscoa dos judeus, e Jesus subiu a Jerusalém. 14No templo, encontrou os vendedores de bois, ovelhas e pombas e os cambistas que estavam aí sentados. 15Fez então um chicote de cordas e expulsou todos do templo, junto com as ovelhas e os bois; espalhou as moedas e derrubou as mesas dos cambistas. 16E disse aos que vendiam pombas: “Tirai isto daqui! Não façais da casa de meu Pai uma casa de comércio!” 17Seus discípulos lembraram-se, mais tarde, que a Escritura diz: “O zelo por tua casa me consumirá”. 18Então os judeus perguntaram a Jesus: “Que sinal nos mostras para agir assim?” 19Ele respondeu: “Destruí este templo, e em três dias o levantarei”. 20Os judeus disseram: “Quarenta e seis anos foram precisos para a construção deste santuário, e tu o levantarás em três dias?” 21Mas Jesus estava falando do templo do seu corpo. 22Quando Jesus ressuscitou, os discípulos lembraram-se do que ele tinha dito e acreditaram na Escritura e na palavra dele. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 2,13-22 - 13The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14In the temple, he found the sellers of oxen, sheep and doves and the money changers who were sitting there. 15 Then he made a whip of ropes and drove everyone out of the temple, along with the sheep and oxen; he scattered the coins and knocked over the money changers' tables. 16And he said to those selling doves, “Get this out of here! Do not make my Father's house a house of commerce! ” 17His disciples later remembered that Scripture says, "Zeal for your house will consume me." 18Then the Jews asked Jesus, "What sign do you show us to do this?" 19He replied, "I have destroyed this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 20The Jews said, "It took forty-six years to build this sanctuary, and will you raise it up in three days?" 21But Jesus was talking about the temple of his body. 22When Jesus was resurrected, the disciples remembered what he had said and believed in Scripture and his word. - Word of salvation.

A basílica de Latrão é a catedral da diocese de Roma, cujo bispo é o papa. É considerada a igreja-mãe de todas as igrejas de Roma e do mundo. Chama-se lateranense porque originariamente foi construída no terreno da família dos Plauzi Laterani, na colina Célio. Foi o Papa Melquíades (311-314) que construiu a basílica e a dedicou ao Santíssimo Salvador. É chamada comumente Basílica de São João de Latrão, porque São João Batista foi escolhido como seu segundo titular (patrono). Depois foi acrescentado outro titular: São João Evangelista. Celebrar a dedicação da catedral do bispo de Roma é recordar o Senhor Jesus, que instituiu a Igreja para reunir na unidade, sob o pastoreio de Pedro e de seus sucessores, os filhos de Deus dispersos. Somos pedras vivas da Igreja.

The Lateran basilica is the cathedral of the diocese of Rome, whose bishop is the pope. It is considered the mother church of all churches in Rome and the world. It is called lateranense because it was originally built on the land of the Plauzi Laterani family, on the Célio hill. It was Pope Melquiades (311-314) who built the basilica and dedicated it to the Most Holy Savior. It is commonly called St. John Lateran Basilica, because St. John the Baptist was chosen as its second holder (patron). Then another titleholder was added: São João Evangelista. To celebrate the dedication of the cathedral of the Bishop of Rome is to remember the Lord Jesus, who instituted the Church to unite, under the shepherding of Peter and his successors, the scattered children of God. We are living stones of the Church.

Divino Mestre, Jesus Cristo, não toleraste a exploração que se praticava na “casa” de Teu Pai. Por isso, indignado, expulsaste do Templo os vendilhões inescrupulosos. Ensina-nos, Senhor, a devolver à Igreja seu verdadeiro sentido, a saber, ocasião e lugar de comunhão com Deus e com os irmãos e irmãs. Amém.
To Pray
Divine Master, Jesus Christ, you did not tolerate the exploitation that was practiced in your Father's “house”. Therefore, indignantly, you expelled unscrupulous sellers from the Temple. Teach us, Lord, to give the Church its true meaning, namely, an occasion and place of communion with God and with brothers and sisters. Amen.
