Leitura da carta de São Paulo aos Filipenses 4,10-19 – Irmãos, 10grande foi minha alegria no Senhor, porque afinal vi florescer vosso afeto por mim. Na verdade estava sempre vivo, mas faltava-lhe oportunidade de manifestar-se. 11Não é por necessidade minha que vos digo, pois aprendi muito bem a contentar-me em qualquer situação. 12Sei viver na miséria e sei viver na abundância. Eu aprendi o segredo de viver em toda e qualquer situação, estando farto ou passando fome, tendo de sobra ou sofrendo necessidade. 13Tudo posso naquele que me dá força. 14No entanto, fizestes bem em compartilhar as minhas dificuldades. 15Filipenses, bem sabeis que, no início da pregação do Evangelho, quando parti da Macedônia, nenhuma Igreja, a não ser a vossa, se juntou a mim numa relação de crédito. 16Já em Tessalônica, mais de uma vez, me enviastes o que eu precisava. 17Não que eu procure presentes, porém o que eu busco é o fruto que cresça no vosso crédito. 18Agora, tenho tudo em abundância. Tenho até de sobra, desde que recebi de Epafrodito o vosso donativo, qual perfume suave, sacrifício aceito e agradável a Deus. 19O meu Deus proverá esplendidamente, com sua riqueza, a todas as vossas necessidades, em Cristo Jesus. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading the letter from St. Paul to the Philippians 4: 10-19 - Brothers, 10 great was my joy in the Lord, because at last I saw your affection for me bloom. In fact, he was always alive, but he lacked the opportunity to manifest himself. 11It is not out of my necessity that I tell you, for I have learned very well to be content in any situation. 12I know how to live in misery and how to live in abundance. Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 16,9-15 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 9“Usai o dinheiro injusto para fazer amigos, pois, quando acabar, eles vos receberão nas moradas eternas. 10Quem é fiel nas pequenas coisas também é fiel nas grandes, e quem é injusto nas pequenas também é injusto nas grandes. 11Por isso, se vós não sois fiéis no uso do dinheiro injusto, quem vos confiará o verdadeiro bem? 12E se não sois fiéis no que é dos outros, quem vos dará aquilo que é vosso? 13Ninguém pode servir a dois senhores, porque, ou odiará um e amará o outro, ou se apegará a um e desprezará o outro. Vós não podeis servir a Deus e ao dinheiro”. 14Os fariseus, que eram amigos do dinheiro, ouviam tudo isso e riam de Jesus. 15Então Jesus lhes disse: “Vós gostais de parecer justos diante dos homens, mas Deus conhece vossos corações. Com efeito, o que é importante para os homens é detestável para Deus”. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 16,9-15 - At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 9 “Use unjust money to make friends, for when it is over, they will receive you in their eternal homes. 10 Whoever is faithful in small things is also faithful in large ones, and whoever is unjust in small ones is also unjust in large ones. 11 Therefore, if you are not faithful in the use of unjust money, who will entrust you with true good? 12And if you are not faithful in what belongs to others, who will give you what is yours? 13 No one can serve two masters, because he will either hate one and love the other, or he will cling to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money ”. 14The Pharisees, who were friends of money, heard all this and laughed at Jesus. 15Then Jesus said to them: “You like to appear righteous before men, but God knows your hearts. Indeed, what is important to men is detestable to God ”. - Word of salvation.
Para refletir
As riquezas humanas são denominadas injustas, não porque sejam ruins em si, mas porque desviam a pessoa da verdadeira riqueza (cf. Lc 12,21). A Deus pertence a terra (cf. Sl 24,1). Tudo vem de Deus e deve ser colocado a serviço da comunhão universal. O egoísmo humano é que faz dos bens terrenos causa de exploração. Por isso, Jesus nos alerta: “Vocês não podem servir a Deus e ao dinheiro”. Todo cristão escolhe servir a Deus. O dinheiro é meio de subsistência das pessoas e condição para projetos que venham beneficiar a todos. Nunca para ser acumulado ou favorecer poucas pessoas.
To think about
Human riches are called unjust, not because they are bad in themselves, but because they lead people away from true wealth (cf. Lk 12:21). The earth belongs to God (cf. Ps 24,1). Everything comes from God and must be placed at the service of universal communion. Human egoism is what makes earthly goods a cause of exploitation. For this reason, Jesus warns us: "You cannot serve God and money". Every Christian chooses to serve God. Money is people's means of subsistence and a condition for projects that will benefit everyone. Never to be accumulated or to favor few people.
Para rezar
Ó Jesus, divino Mestre, recomendas a Teus discípulos usar o dinheiro a serviço dos outros. A riqueza não é para ser endeusada, mas partilhada. Liberta-nos, Senhor, da escravidão dos bens terrenos, para nos sentirmos alegremente livres para o serviço do Reino. Amém.
To Pray
O Jesus, divine Master, recommend to Your disciples to use money in the service of others. Wealth is not to be deified, but to be shared. Free us, Lord, from the bondage of earthly goods, to feel joyfully free for Kingdom service. Amen.
