Pagar ou não imposto ao Templo?

Pay or not tax to the Temple?

Jesus é questionado pelos fiscais do Templo: vai pagar ou não o imposto anual ao Templo? Consta que os sacerdotes e muitos mestres estavam isentos de pagar esse imposto. Jesus se serve da generosidade da natureza (peixe) e satisfaz a exigência da lei. Quando não há exploração do povo e acumulações de bens, a natureza supre a necessidade de todos.

Jesus is questioned by the temple's tax authorities: Are you going to pay the annual tax to the temple? It is stated that the priests and many masters were exempt from paying that tax. Jesus serves the generosity of nature (fish) and satisfies the requirement of the law. When there is no exploitation of the people and accumulations of goods, nature supplies the necessity of all.

Leitura do livro do Deuteronômio 10,12-22 - Moisés falou ao povo, dizendo: 12“E agora, Israel, o que é que o Senhor teu Deus te pede? Ao entrar em casa, Jesus adiantou-se e perguntou: “Simão, que te parece: os reis da terra cobram impostos ou taxas de quem, dos filhos ou dos estranhos?” 26Pedro respondeu: “Dos estranhos!” Então Jesus disse: “Logo os filhos são livres. 27Mas, para não escandalizar essa gente, vai ao mar, lança o anzol e abre a boca do primeiro peixe que tu pescares. Ali tu encontrarás uma moeda; pega então a moeda e vai entregá-la a eles, por mim e por ti”. – Palavra da salvação.
