"Lucas 11,5-13 - Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: ⁵“Se um de vós tiver um amigo e for procurá-lo à meia-noite e lhe disser: ‘Amigo, empresta-me três pães, ⁶porque um amigo meu chegou de viagem e nada tenho para lhe oferecer’, ⁷e se o outro responder lá de dentro: ‘Não me incomodes! Já tranquei a porta, e meus filhos e eu já estamos deitados; não me posso levantar para te dar os pães’, ⁸eu vos declaro: mesmo que o outro não se levante para dá-los porque é seu amigo, vai levantar-se ao menos por causa da impertinência dele e lhe dará quanto for necessário. ⁹Portanto, eu vos digo, pedi e recebereis; procurai e encontrareis; batei e vos será aberto. ¹⁰Pois quem pede, recebe; quem procura, encontra; e para quem bate, se abrirá. ¹¹Será que algum de vós que é pai, se o filho pedir um peixe, lhe dará uma cobra? ¹²Ou ainda, se pedir um ovo, lhe dará um escorpião? ¹³Ora, se vós, que sois maus, sabeis dar coisas boas aos vossos filhos, quanto mais o Pai do céu dará o Espírito Santo aos que o pedirem!”  Palavra da salvação."

"Luke 11: 5-13 - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 5 "If one of you has a friend and comes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, give me three loaves of bread, 6 for a friend of mine has come on a journey, and I have nothing to offer him, 'and if the other responds from within:' Do not bother me! I've locked the door, and my children and I are already lying down; I can not get up to give you the loaves, 'I tell you: even if the other does not get up to give them because he is their friend, he will get up at least because of his impertinence and give him whatever it takes. 9And therefore I say unto you, Ask and ye shall receive; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. 10For he that asketh receiveth; who seeks, finds; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 Shall any of you that is a father, if the son ask for a fish, will give him a snake? Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? 13Or, if you, who are evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him! Refletindo o Evangelho

"Pedir alguma coisa com insistência pode significar real necessidade. Quando pedimos, reconhecemos nossa carência e insuficiência. No terreno das relações humanas, esse método funciona na maioria das vezes. Existe até uma ideia formada de que, entre nós, setenta por cento dos nossos pedidos são atendidos. Ora, Jesus aplica a imagem do comportamento humano para nos ensinar como Deus se posiciona com relação aos nossos pedidos. Ele é Pai misericordioso e está atento às necessidades de seus filhos e filhas. “Peçam… procurem… batam” e o Pai os atenderá. O Espírito Santo é o grande presente que Deus nos dá, pois necessitamos de luzes, orientações, discernimento em nossa vida. O Espírito Santo virá em nosso socorro, pois não sabemos o que pedir (cf. Rm 8,26-27)."

Reflecting the Gospel

"Asking for something with insistence can mean real need. When we ask, we recognize our need and insufficiency. In the field of human relations, this method works most of the time. There is even an idea that, among us, seventy percent of our requests are met. Now, Jesus applies the image of human behavior to teach us how God stands in relation to our requests. He is a merciful Father and attentive to the needs of his sons and daughters. "Ask ... seek ... beat" and the Father will attend. The Holy Spirit is the great gift that God gives us, because we need light, guidance, discernment in our lives. The Holy Spirit will come to our rescue, for we do not know what to ask (Rm 8, 26-27)."
