Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, ⁷o tetrarca Herodes ouviu falar de tudo o que estava acontecendo e ficou perplexo, porque alguns diziam que João Batista tinha ressuscitado dos mortos. ⁸Outros diziam que Elias tinha aparecido; outros, ainda, que um dos antigos profetas tinha ressuscitado. ⁹Então Herodes disse: “Eu mandei degolar João. Quem é esse homem sobre quem ouço falar essas coisas?” E procurava ver Jesus. – Palavra da salvação.

Herod heard of all that was happening and was perplexed, for some said that John the Baptist had risen from the dead. 8 Others said that Elijah had appeared; still others that one of the ancient prophets had risen. 9 Then Herod said, "I commanded to behead John. Who is this man over whom I hear these things?" And he sought to see Jesus. - Word of salvation..

Refletindo o Evangelho

"Herodes Antipas era homicida; ele mesmo o comprova: “Mandei degolar João”. Parece não ter paz interior. Está preocupado com a fama de Jesus de Nazaré. Seria Jesus um defensor da verdade e da retidão, como João Batista? “E queria ver Jesus”. Para satisfazer sua curiosidade? Ou mandá-lo calar a boca? Certamente não era para tornar-se seu fiel discípulo. Mais tarde, nas horas da sua paixão, Jesus é colocado à frente desse Herodes, que quer vê-lo fazer algum milagre. Jesus não lhe dirá sequer uma palavra. Saboreando amarga frustração, o tetrarca dará vazão a sua ira: “Herodes, com seus soldados tratou Jesus com desprezo e caçoou dele” (Lc 23,11). A Boa-nova do Reino continua provocando transformação na sociedade ao mexer com as consciências. Qual é a nossa resposta aos apelos do evangelho?"

Reflecting the Gospel

"Herod Antipas was a murderer; he himself proves it: "I had John beheaded." It seems to have no inner peace. He is worried about the fame of Jesus of Nazareth. Was Jesus a defender of truth and righteousness, like John the Baptist? "And I wanted to see Jesus." To satisfy your curiosity? Or have him shut up? Certainly not to become his faithful disciple. Later, in the hours of his passion, Jesus is placed ahead of this Herod, who wants to see him perform some miracle. Jesus will not tell you a word. Savoring bitter frustration, the tetrarch will give vent to his anger: "Herod, with his soldiers, treated Jesus with contempt and mocked him" (Lk 23:11). The Good News of the Kingdom continues to provoke transformation in society by tinkering with consciences. What is our response to the calls of the gospel?"
