Evangelho - Lucas 4,38-44

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas. – Naquele tempo, 38Jesus saiu da sinagoga e entrou na casa de Simão. A sogra de Simão estava sofrendo com febre alta, e pediram a Jesus em favor dela. 39Inclinando-se sobre ela, Jesus ameaçou a febre, e a febre a deixou. Imediatamente, ela se levantou e começou a servi-los. 40Ao pôr do sol, todos os que tinham doentes atingidos por diversos males, os levaram a Jesus. Jesus punha as mãos em cada um deles e os curava. 41De muitas pessoas também saíam demônios, gritando: “Tu és o Filho de Deus”. Jesus os ameaçava, e não os deixava falar, porque sabiam que ele era o Messias. 42Ao raiar do dia, Jesus saiu e foi para um lugar deserto. As multidões o procuravam e, indo até ele, tentavam impedi-lo de as deixar. 43Mas Jesus disse: “Eu devo anunciar a Boa-Nova do Reino de Deus também a outras cidades, porque para isso é que eu fui enviado”. 44E pregava nas sinagogas da Judéia. — Palavra da Salvação.

Gospel - John 6,60-69

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke. - At that time, Jesus left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon. Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus for her. 39He bowed down on her, and threatened the fever, and the fever left her. Immediately, she stood up and began to serve them. At sunset, all those who had sick people afflicted by various evils brought them to Jesus. Jesus put his hands on each of them and healed them. 41 From many people also came demons, shouting, "Thou art the Son of God." Jesus threatened them, and would not let them speak, because they knew that he was the Messiah. 42At the end of the day Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds sought him out and, coming to him, tried to stop him from leaving them. But Jesus said, "I must also proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God to other cities, for that is why I was sent." 44 And he preached in the synagogues of Judea. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

"Para os contemporâneos de Jesus, a doença era uma forma de dominação do adversário (demônio). Com febre alta, a sogra de Pedro estava impossibilitada de prestar serviço à comunidade. Jesus a liberta pela cura. Ao curar as enfermidades, Jesus demonstra seu poder libertador sobre as forças que oprimem as pessoas. Com isso, vai-se concretizando a atividade libertadora de Jesus, já esboçada no Cântico de Zacarias (cf. Lc 1,68-79) e anunciada pelo próprio Jesus no seu discurso inaugural, na sinagoga de Nazaré (cf. Lc 4,16-19). O evangelho de Lucas apresenta Jesus sempre a caminho, de modo que ninguém consegue segurá-lo. Sua caminhada terminará em Jerusalém, de onde outra vez partirá, mediante seus discípulos, para chegar aos “extremos da terra” (At 1,8)."

Reflecting the Gospel

"For the contemporaries of Jesus, disease was a form of domination of the adversary (demon). With a high fever, Pedro's mother-in-law was unable to serve the community. Jesus frees her for healing. In healing the sickness, Jesus demonstrates his liberating power over the forces that oppress people. With this, the liberating activity of Jesus, already outlined in the Canticle of Zechariah (cf. Lk 1,68-79) and announced by Jesus himself in his inaugural address in the synagogue of Nazareth (see Luke 4:16 -19). The gospel of Luke presents Jesus always on the way, so that no one can hold him. His walk will end in Jerusalem, from where he will again depart, through his disciples, to reach the "ends of the earth" (Acts 1: 8)."

Feliz o povo que o Senhor escolheu por sua herança! Feliz o povo cujo Deus é o Senhor, e a nação que escolheu por sua herança! Dos altos céus o Senhor olha e observa; ele se inclina para olhar todos os homens. Ele contempla do lugar onde reside e vê a todos os que habitam sobre a terra. Ele formou o coração de cada um e por todos os seus atos se interessa. No Senhor nós esperamos confiantes, porque ele é nosso auxílio e proteção! Blessed are the people whom the Lord has chosen for his inheritance! Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord, and the nation which he hath chosen for his inheritance. From the high heavens the Lord looks and watches; he leans to look at all men. He contemplates the place where he lives and sees all who dwell on the earth. He has formed the heart of each and for all his acts is interested. In the Lord we hope for trust, because he is our help and protection! Therefore our hearts rejoice in him, his holy name is our only hope. Psalm 32.
