Evangelho - Lucas 7,1-10

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, ¹quando acabou de falar ao povo que o escutava, Jesus entrou em Cafarnaum. ²Havia lá um oficial romano que tinha um empregado, a quem estimava muito, que estava doente, à beira da morte. ³O oficial ouviu falar de Jesus e enviou alguns anciãos dos judeus para pedirem que Jesus viesse salvar seu empregado. ⁴Chegando aonde Jesus estava, pediram-lhe com insistência: “O oficial merece que lhe faças esse favor, ⁵porque ele estima o nosso povo. Ele até nos construiu uma sinagoga”. ⁶Então, Jesus pôs-se a caminho com eles. Porém, quando já estava perto da casa, o oficial mandou alguns amigos dizerem a Jesus: “Senhor, não te incomodes, pois não sou digno de que entres em minha casa. ⁷Nem mesmo me achei digno de ir pessoalmente ao teu encontro. Mas ordena com a tua palavra, e o meu empregado ficará curado. ⁸Eu também estou debaixo de autoridade, mas tenho soldados que obedecem às minhas ordens. Se ordeno a um: ‘Vai!’, ele vai; e a outro: ‘Vem!’, ele vem; e ao meu empregado: ‘Faze isto!’, e ele o faz”. ⁹Ouvindo isso, Jesus ficou admirado. Virou-se para a multidão que o seguia e disse: “Eu vos declaro que nem mesmo em Israel encontrei tamanha fé”. ¹⁰Os mensageiros voltaram para a casa do oficial e encontraram o empregado em perfeita saúde. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 7,1-10

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke - At that time, when he had finished speaking to the people who heard him, Jesus entered Capernaum. There was a Roman officer there who had an employee, whom he valued a lot, who was sick, on the brink of death. 3 The officer heard about Jesus and sent some of the elders of the Jews to ask Jesus to come and save his servant. 4When Jesus came to him, they asked him insistently, "The officer deserves to do you this favor, 5for he esteems our people. He even built us a synagogue. " 6Then Jesus set out with them. But when he was near the house, the officer sent some friends to say to Jesus, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to come into my house. 7I do not even consider myself worthy to go to you personally. But command at thy word, and my servant shall be healed. 8I am also under authority, but I have soldiers who obey my orders. He commanded one, "Go!" He goes; and to another, 'Come!', he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this!' and he does it. " 9When this happened, Jesus was astonished. He turned to the crowd following him and said, "I tell you, I have not found such faith in Israel." 10The messengers returned to the officer's house and found the servant in perfect health. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Movido por constante zelo missionário, Jesus quer chegar a todos: ao povo eleito, seus conterrâneos, e aos de fora, os pagãos. A este último grupo pertence o centurião. Serve-se de intermediários, “anciãos dos judeus”, para levar seu pedido a Jesus: que fosse curar seu servo. Com essa atitude, ele reconhece que a fé devia ser comunicada aos pagãos por meio de Abraão e seus descendentes. Jesus se põe a caminho. Não chega à casa do enfermo. Não se encontra com o centurião, que se acha indigno de recebê-lo, porém acredita firmemente que basta uma palavra do Mestre para que seu servo recupere a saúde. A cura se dá, e Jesus salienta a profunda fé do centurião: “Nem mesmo em Israel encontrei fé tão grande”. Acaso nossa fé é suficiente para fazer Deus vir em nossa direção e atender nossos pedidos?

Reflecting the Gospel
