Ele será chamado pelo nome de Emanuel, que significa: Deus está conosco”. – Palavra da salvação.

Refletindo o Evangelho

A comemoração da Natividade de Maria tem origem no século V. Segundo a tradição, foi construída em Jerusalém uma igreja no lugar onde havia a casa de Joaquim e Ana, pais de Maria. Mais tarde, outra igreja foi aí edificada e recebia grande número de peregrinos que iam venerar o nascimento de Maria. No Ocidente, a festa foi acolhida pela Igreja de Roma ao longo do século VII. Difundida por toda a Europa, tornou-se, a partir da Idade Média, uma festa muito valorizada. Ao contemplar o nascimento de Maria, São João Damasceno exclama: “Formou-se um céu sobre a terra, porque está para iniciar a salvação”. Deus olha e admira a menina que descansa tranquila nos braços de Sant’Ana e a prepara para o futuro: um dia ela dará à luz aquele que o universo não pode conter.

Hoje invoco os céus e a terra como testemunhas contra vocês, de que coloquei diante de vocês a vida e a morte, a bênção e a maldição. Agora escolham a vida, para que vocês e os seus filhos vivam,
