 No one puts new wine into old wineskins.

Evangelho - Lucas 5,33-39

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, ³³os fariseus e os mestres da lei disseram a Jesus: “Os discípulos de João, e também os discípulos dos fariseus, jejuam com frequência e fazem orações. Mas os teus discípulos comem e bebem”. ³⁴Jesus, porém, lhes disse: “Os convidados de um casamento podem fazer jejum enquanto o noivo está com eles? ³⁵Mas dias virão em que o noivo será tirado do meio deles. Então, naqueles dias, eles jejuarão”. ³⁶Jesus contou-lhes ainda uma parábola: “Ninguém tira retalho de roupa nova para fazer remendo em roupa velha; senão vai rasgar a roupa nova, e o retalho novo não combinará com a roupa velha. ³⁷Ninguém coloca vinho novo em odres velhos; porque, senão, o vinho novo arrebenta os odres velhos e se derrama, e os odres se perdem. ³⁸Vinho novo deve ser colocado em odres novos. ³⁹E ninguém, depois de beber vinho velho, deseja vinho novo, porque diz: o velho é melhor”. – Palavra da salvação.

Refletindo o Evangelho

O comentário dos doutores da Lei e dos fariseus é uma provocação a Jesus. Mais que isso, é uma acusação, como se a pequena comunidade de Jesus estivesse cometendo erro. Por que haveriam de fazer jejum os discípulos de Jesus? Eles estão usufruindo da plena presença do Messias (o noivo). O jejum era proposto e observado como sinal de espera da salvação. Ora, o Salvador já está entre eles. A questão é que os mestres da Lei e os fariseus não querem “ver” Jesus, nem reconhecer que ele é o enviado do Pai para redimir o mundo. Ficam fechados num legalismo paralisante e não se abrem para a Boa-nova. Não aceitam converter-se para Jesus. Acomodam-se às estruturas antigas, ineficazes, sem o sopro renovador do Espírito. Não querem mudança; preferem a mesmice: “O vinho velho é melhor!”.

Reflecting the Gospel

"The commentary of the Doctors of the Law and the Pharisees is a provocation to Jesus. More than that, it's an accusation, as if the little community of Jesus was making a mistake. Why should the disciples of Jesus fast? They are enjoying the full presence of the Messiah (the bridegroom). Fasting was proposed and observed as a sign of waiting for salvation. The Savior is already among them. The point is that the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees do not want to "see" Jesus, nor acknowledge that he is the Father's messenger to redeem the world. They are locked in a paralyzing legalism and do not open to the Good News. They will not convert to Jesus. They accommodate to the old structures, ineffective, without the renewing breath of the Spirit. They do not want change; prefer the sameness: "Old wine is better!""
