“Senhor, se queres, Tu tens o poder de me purificar”.

Lord, if you will, You have the power to purify me."

O Cristo tomou sobre si nossas dores, / carregou em seu corpo as nossas fraquezas (Mt 8,17). – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 8,1-4 – 1Tendo Jesus descido do monte, numerosas multidões o seguiam. 2Eis que um leproso se aproximou e se ajoelhou diante dele, dizendo: “Senhor, se queres, tu tens o poder de me purificar”. 3Jesus estendeu a mão, tocou nele e disse: “Eu quero, fica limpo”. No mesmo instante, o homem ficou curado da lepra. 4Então Jesus lhe disse: “Olha, não digas nada a ninguém, mas vai mostrar-te ao sacerdote e faze a oferta que Moisés ordenou, para servir de testemunho para eles”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel

Reflexão

Leprosos, na época de Jesus, nem se aproximavam das pessoas. Viviam afastados do convívio social, gritando sua miserável situação, para que ninguém se contaminasse. Jesus, tendo assumido a causa, acolhe o leproso. Desconforto para alguns, que logo vão espalhar a notícia de que também Jesus é impuro, porque tocou a pele do leproso. Decidido, não importa a reação dos adversários, Jesus afirma: “Quero. Fique purificado”.

Reflection

Lepers, at the time of Jesus, did not even approach people. They lived away from social life, shouting their miserable situation, so that no one could become contaminated. Jesus, having taken up the cause, welcomes the leper. Discomfort for some, who will soon spread the news that Jesus is also impure, because he touched the leper's skin. Decided, no matter the reaction of the opponents, Jesus says: “I want to. Stay clean. ”
