🇧🇷Reflexão 16/09/2019 🇺🇸Reflection

Nem mesmo em Israel encontrei tamanha fé.
Not even in Israel did I find such faith.

A Centurion (chief of One hundred soldiers, at the service of the Romans) does not direct himself to Jesus, but sends him a delegation of Jewish elders to ask him to heal his servant to whom he is so esteemed. By the emissaries, we know that the man had a good heart. Jesus leaves with them. But, full of humility and trust, the military sends some friends with this message to Jesus: Say only one word and my servant will be healed. So it happens, so that the emissaries, when they return home, find the servant healed. And Jesus, taken with profound admiration, greatly worths the faith that the pagan has shown. With this episode, Luke already announces the time when the gospel, by the action of the Holy Spirit, will also extend to non-Jews.

1a. Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading from St Paul's first letter to Timothy 2,1-8 – Dear, 1 First of all, I recommend prayers and prayers, supplications and thanksgiving for all men; 2by those who govern and for all who occupy high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and serene life, with all the pity and dignity. 3This is good and pleasing to God, our Savior; 4he wants all men to be saved and come to know the truth. 5For There is only one God and one mediator between God and men: the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who surrendered himself in ransom for all. This is the testimony given in the time established by God, 7and for this testimony I was appointed preacher and apostle, and – I speak the truth, I do not lie – master of the Pagan nations in faith and in truth. I therefore want men to pray in every place, raising holy hands, without anger and without discussion. – Word of the Lord.

Salmo 27/28
Salvai o vosso povo e libertai-o; / abençoai a vossa herança!

Salmo 27/28
Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard/the cry of my supplication! – Listen to my cry, my supplication,/when I shout to you; /When I elect, O Lord, my hands/to your sanctuary. – My strength and shield is the Lord; /My heart trusts him. /He helped me and rejoated my heart; /I sing to feast your praise. – The Lord is the fortress of his people/and the salvation of his anointed. /Save your people and release him; /Bless your inheritance! /Thirst ye your shepherd and your guide/for the Eternal centuries!

Evangelho
Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia.

Gospel
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah. God the world so loved,/who gave him his own son,/that all who believe in him/find eternal life (Jn 3,16). – Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 7,1-10 – At that time, 1when he just spoke to the people who listened to him, Jesus entered Capernaum. 2There was a Roman officer there who had an employee, whom he estimated very much and was ill, on the verge of death. 3The officer heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to ask that Jesus come to save his servant. 4Arriving where Jesus was, they urged him insistently: "The officer deserves to do this favor, 5because he estimates our people. He even built us a synagogue. " 6Then Jesus stood on his way with them. However, when he was already near the house, the officer sent some friends to tell Jesus: "Lord, do not bother, for I am not worthy of you to come into my house. 7I Didn't even find myself worthy to go to your meeting personally. But you command with your word, and my servant will be healed. 8I am also under authority, but I have soldiers who obey my orders. If I command one: ' Go! ', he will; And the other: ' Come! ', he comes; And to my servant: ' Do this! ', and he does. " 9Listening to this, Jesus was astonfied. He turned to the crowd who followed him and said, "I declare unto you that not even in Israel I have found such faith." 10The Messengers returned to the House of the officer and found the employee in perfect health. – Word of salvation.
