Reflexão

Até os discípulos de Jesus entram em crise e incapazes de dar um passo na fé, afastam-se. Jesus não retira nenhuma palavra do seu discurso, nem procura adocicar o assunto para torná-lo mais saboroso. Apesar das resistências, Jesus expõe abertamente sua verdade. Acrescenta que eles ficarão ainda mais escandalizados quando virem o Filho do Homem voltar para onde estava antes, fazendo alusão à sua glorificação através da morte. Para os Doze, que permanecem firmes e solidários, Jesus lhes questiona de que lado estão eles. Por meio de Pedro, os apóstolos firmam sua fé na pessoa de Jesus: “Só tu tens palavras de vida eterna”. Esta solene profissão de fé suaviza a incômoda sombra da incredulidade dos outros discípulos e da já projetada traição de Judas.

Reflection 

Even the disciples of Jesus come into crisis and unable to take a step in faith, they move away. Jesus does not withdraw any word from his speech, nor seeks to sweetle the matter to make it more tasty. Despite the resistances, Jesus openly exposes his truth. He adds that they will become even more scandalized when they see the son of man return to where he was before, alluding to his glorification through death. For the twelve, who remain steadfast and supportive, Jesus questions them on which side they are. Through Peter, the Apostles establish their faith in the person of Jesus: "Only you have words of eternal life." This solemn profession of faith softens the uncomfortable shadow of the unbelief of the other disciples and the already projected betrayal of Judas.

Leitura dos Atos dos Apóstolos 9,31-42 – Naqueles dias, 31a Igreja vivia em paz em toda a Judeia, Galileia e Samaria. Ela consolidava-se e progredia no temor do Senhor e crescia em número com a ajuda do Espírito Santo. 32Pedro percorria todos os lugares; e visitou também os fiéis que moravam em Lida. 33Encontrou aí um homem chamado Eneias, que estava paralítico e há oito anos jazia numa cama. 34Pedro disse-lhe: “Eneias, Jesus Cristo te cura! Levanta-te e arruma a tua cama!” Imediatamente Eneias se levantou. 35Todos os habitantes de Lida e da região do Saron viram isso e se converteram ao Senhor. 36Em Jope havia uma discípula chamada Tabita, nome que quer dizer Gazela. Eram muitas as boas obras que fazia e as esmolas que dava. 37Naqueles dias ela ficou doente e morreu. Então lavaram seu corpo e o colocaram no andar superior da casa. 38Como Lida ficava perto de Jope, e ouvindo dizer que Pedro estava lá, os discípulos mandaram dois homens com um recado: “Vem depressa até nós!” 39Pedro partiu imediatamente com eles. Assim que chegou, levaram-no ao andar superior, onde todas as viúvas foram ao seu encontro. Chorando, elas mostravam a Pedro as túnicas e mantos que Tabita havia feito quando vivia com elas. 40Pedro mandou que todos saíssem. Em seguida, pôs-se de joelhos e rezou. Depois, voltou-se para o corpo e disse: “Tabita, levanta-te!” Ela então abriu os olhos, viu Pedro e sentou-se. 41Pedro deu-lhe a mão e ajudou-a a levantar-se. Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo João 6,60-69 – Naquele tempo, 60muitos dos discípulos de Jesus que o escutaram, disseram: “Esta palavra é dura. Quem consegue escutá-la?” 61Sabendo que seus discípulos estavam murmurando por causa disso mesmo, Jesus perguntou: “Isso vos escandaliza? 62E quando virdes o Filho do homem subindo para onde estava antes? 63O Espírito é que dá vida, a carne não adianta nada. As palavras que vos falei são espírito e vida. 64Mas entre vós há alguns que não creem”. Jesus sabia, desde o início, quem eram os que não tinham fé e quem havia de entregá-lo. 65E acrescentou: “É por isso que vos disse: ninguém pode vir a mim, a não ser que lhe seja concedido pelo Pai”. 66A partir daquele momento, muitos discípulos voltaram atrás e não andavam mais com ele. 67Então, Jesus disse aos doze: “Vós também quereis ir embora?” 68Simão Pedro respondeu: “A quem iremos, Senhor? Tu tens palavras de vida eterna. 69Nós cremos firmemente e reconhecemos que tu és o santo de Deus”. – Palavra da salvação.
