Parábola da ovelha perdida e da moeda de prata.
Parable of the lost sheep and the silver coin.

Cem ovelhas e dez moedas indicam unidade. Jesus quer uma humanidade indivisível; não se pode dividir mundo em sagrado (os bons) e em profano (os maus). Deus não se conforma com a perda de alguma de suas criaturas. Invertem-se os valores: pela misericórdia de Deus, os que não têm voz nem vez, quando se convertem ao Reino, são capazes de fazer festa e de partilhar com os outros. Deus, por sua vez, alegra-se com a reintegração de todos na Aliança.

One hundred sheep and ten coins indicate unity. Jesus wants an indivisible humanity; one cannot divide world into sacred (the good ones) and profane (the bad ones). God does not conform to the loss of any of his creatures. Values are reversed: by the mercy of God, those who have no voice or time, when they convert to the Kingdom, are able to feast and share with others. God, in turn, rejoices at the reintegration of all in the Covenant.

Leitura da carta de são Paulo aos Romanos 14,7-12 – Irmãos, 7ninguém dentre nós vive para si mesmo ou morre para si mesmo. 8Se estamos vivos, é para o Senhor que vivemos; se morremos, é para o Senhor que morremos. Portanto, vivos ou mortos, pertencemos ao Senhor. 9Cristo morreu e ressuscitou exatamente para isto, para ser o Senhor dos mortos e dos vivos. 10E tu, por que julgas o teu irmão? Ou, mesmo, por que desprezas o teu irmão? Pois é diante do tribunal de Deus que todos compareceremos. 11Com efeito, está escrito: “Por minha vida, diz o Senhor, todo joelho se dobrará diante de mim e toda língua glorificará a Deus”. 12Assim, cada um de nós prestará contas de si mesmo a Deus. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading the letter of St Paul to the Romans 14,7-12 – Brothers, 7no one of us lives for himself or dies for himself. 8If we are alive, it is for the Lord that we live; if we die, it is for the Lord that we die. Therefore, alive or dead, we belong to the Lord. 9Christ died and rose to this, to be the Lord of the dead and of the living. 10And you, why do you judge your brother? Or, really, why do you despise your brother? For it is before the court of God that we will all attend. 11 Indeed, it is written: "For my life, saith the Lord, every knee will bend before me and every language will glorify God." 12 Thus, each of us shall account for himself to God. Sei que a bondade do Senhor eu hei de ver / na terra dos viventes. 
– O Senhor é minha luz e salvação; / de quem eu terei medo? / O Senhor é a proteção da minha vida; / perante quem eu tremerei?

Evangelho

Vinde a mim, todos vós que estais cansados, / e descanso eu vos darei, diz o Senhor (Mt 11,28). – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 15,1-10 – Naquele tempo, 1os publicanos e pecadores aproximavam-se de Jesus para o escutar. 2Os fariseus, porém, e os mestres da lei criticavam Jesus: “Este homem acolhe os pecadores e faz refeição com eles”. 3Então, Jesus contou-lhes esta parábola: 4“Se um de vós tem cem ovelhas e perde uma, não deixa as noventa e nove no deserto e vai atrás daquela que se perdeu, até encontrá-la? 5Quando a encontra, coloca-a nos ombros com alegria 6e, chegando a casa, reúne os amigos e vizinhos e diz: ‘Alegrai-vos comigo! Encontrei a minha ovelha que estava perdida!’ 7Eu vos digo, assim haverá no céu mais alegria por um só pecador que se converte do que por noventa e nove justos que não precisam de conversão. 8E se uma mulher tem dez moedas de prata e perde uma, não acende uma lâmpada, varre a casa e a procura cuidadosamente, até encontrá-la? 9Quando a encontra, reúne as amigas e vizinhas e diz: ‘Alegrai-vos comigo! Encontrei a moeda que tinha perdido!’ 10Por isso, eu vos digo, haverá alegria entre os anjos de Deus por um só pecador que se converte”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Come to me, all of you who are tired, / and rest I will give you, saith the Lord (Mt 11,28). – Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 15,1-10 – At that time, 1st publicans and sinners approached Jesus to listen to him. 2Farisees, however, and the masters of the law criticized Jesus: "This man welcomes sinners and makes a meal with them." 3 And Jesus told them this parable: 4"If one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one, does he not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one who was lost until he finds it? 5When you find her, he puts her on his shoulders with joy 6e, arriving home, gathers her friends and neighbours and says, 'Rejoice with me! I found my sheep that was lost!' 7 I tell you, so there shall be more joy in heaven for one sinner who converts than by ninety-nine righteous who do not need conversion. 8And if a woman has ten silver coins and loses one, does not light a lamp, sweeps the house and searches for her carefully, until she finds her? 9When you meet her, she gathers her friends and neighbours and says, 'Rejoice with me! I found the coin I'd lost!' 10 For this, I tell you, there will be joy among God's angels for one sinner who converts." - Word of salvation.
