Carregar a cruz e ser discípulo.
Take the cross and be a disciple.

É preciso ter disponibilidade total para seguir Jesus. Não se trata de passar algumas horas com o Mestre para ouvir dele uma palestra interessante; tampouco consiste em assistir a uma sessão de curas espetaculares, capazes de despertar a admiração dos espectadores. Seguir a Jesus implica abandonar todas as seguranças, representadas pela família e pela própria vida. Portanto, o que se requer do discípulo é sua total disponibilidade para segui-lo até a morte. Em nenhum momento, Jesus diz que essa escolha é fácil. Por isso, ele recomenda, mediante as duas parábolas, que se façam os cálculos corretos antes de tomar a decisão de segui-lo.

You have to have full availability to follow Jesus. It's not about spending a few hours with the Master to hear an interesting lecture from him; nor is it to attend a session of spectacular cures, capable of awakening the admiration of spectators. Following Jesus implies abandoning all security guards, represented by family and life itself. Therefore, what is required of the disciple is his total willingness to follow him to death. At no time does Jesus say that this choice is easy. Therefore, he recommends, through the two parables, to make the correct calculations before making the decision to follow him.

Leitura da carta de são Paulo aos Romanos 13,8-10 – Irmãos, 8não fiqueis devendo nada a ninguém, a não ser o amor mútuo, pois quem ama o próximo está cumprindo a lei. 9De fato, os mandamentos: “Não cometerás adultério”, “não matarás”, “não roubarás”, “não cobiçarás” e qualquer outro mandamento se resumem neste: “Amarás a teu próximo como a ti mesmo”. 10O amor não faz nenhum mal contra o próximo. Reading of St Paul's letter to the Romans 13,8-10 – Brothers, 8 do not owe anything to anyone but mutual love, for those who love others are complying with the law. 9 Indeed, the commandments: "Thously shall not commit adultery," "thou shalt not kill," "thou shalt not steal," "you will not covet," and any other commandment sums up in this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no harm against others.
