A resposta de Pedro, em nome do grupo – o Cristo, filho de Deus – revela o que Jesus é e faz: ele é mestre, profeta e presença de Deus. Para não restar dúvidas a respeito da messianidade de Jesus, ele revela seu destino: não é o Messias poderoso, conquistador e triunfalista como pensam. Será o Messias doador da própria vida em favor do próximo. Seu sofrimento e sua morte é uma consequência de sua fidelidade ao Pai. A seguir, o Mestre convida quem estiver disposto a segui-lo, a renunciar a tudo o que possa impedir o seguimento fiel. Quem quiser segui-lo terá de se identificar com seu projeto, sabendo que poderá ser desafiado a perder a própria vida. Quem é Jesus para você?

Peter's answer, on behalf of the Group – the Christ, the Son of God – reveals what Jesus is and does: he is the master, Prophet, and presence of God. For there to be no doubt about Jesus ' messianness, he reveals his destiny: he is not the mighty, conquering and Triumphalist Messiah as they think. He will be the donor messiah of his own life in favor of the next. His suffering and his death is a consequence of his faithfulness to the father. Then the master invites anyone who is willing to follow him, to renounce all that can prevent faithful follow-up. Anyone who wants to follow you will have to identify with your project, knowing that you can be challenged to lose your own life. Who is Jesus to you?
