Jesus se apresenta com autoridade suprema e nos mostra como levar à plenitude as exigências do amor. Os que entram no Reino de Deus devem superar os doutores da Lei e os fariseus e imitar Jesus pela prática do amor gratuito. As palavras ofensivas, a prepotência, o desprezo são manifestações contra a vida do próximo. Não basta não ofender o próximo, é preciso amá-lo como Jesus o ama. O próprio culto a Deus será vazio, se não for revestido de caridade. O amor fraterno, que supõe reconciliação, torna a celebração litúrgica fecunda e agradável a Deus. Hoje celebramos SANTO ANTÔNIO DE PÁDUA, presbítero e doutor da igreja - Antônio, nascido em Portugal em 1195 e falecido na Itália em 1231, abraçou a vida de pobreza na Ordem Franciscana. De notáveis inteligência e formação, foi um dos maiores pregadores da Igreja. Após abandonar as missões por problemas de saúde, pôs seus dons a serviço da ordem, a pedido do próprio são Francisco, e viveu em Pádua seus últimos anos. Seu amor e dedicação à pregação do evangelho nos motivem em nossa vida cristã.

Jesus presents himself with supreme authority and shows us how to bring to the fullness the demands of love. Those who enter the Kingdom of God must overcome the doctors of the Law and the Pharisees and imitate Jesus by the practice of free love. The offensive words, the prepotency, the contempt are manifestations against the life of others. It is not enough not to offend others, you must love him as Jesus loves you. The worship of God itself will be empty if it is not covered with charity. Fraternal love, which presupposes reconciliation, makes the liturgical celebration fruitful and pleasing to God. Today we celebrate SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA - presbyter and doctor of the church - Antônio, born in Portugal in 1195 and died in Italy in 1231, embraced the life of poverty in the Franciscan Order. Of remarkable intelligence and formation, he was one of the greatest preachers of the church. After abandoning the missions for health problems, he put his gifts at the service of the order, at the request of St Francis himself, and lived in Padua his last years. His love and dedication to the preaching of the Gospel motivate us in our Christian life.

Leitura da segunda carta de são Paulo aos Coríntios 3,15-4,1.3-6 – Irmãos, 15até o dia de hoje, quando os israelitas leem os escritos de Moisés, um véu cobre o coração deles. 16Mas, todas as vezes que o coração se converte ao Senhor, o véu é tirado. 17Pois o Senhor é o Espírito, e onde está o Espírito do Senhor, aí está a liberdade. 18Todos nós, porém, com o rosto descoberto, contemplamos e refletimos a glória do Senhor e assim somos transformados à sua imagem, pelo seu Espírito, com uma glória cada vez maior. 4,1Não desanimamos no exercício deste ministério que recebemos da misericórdia divina. 3E se o nosso evangelho está velado, é só para aqueles que perecem que ele está velado. 4O deus deste mundo cegou a inteligência desses incrédulos, para que eles não vejam a luz esplendorosa do evangelho da glória de Cristo, que é a imagem de Deus. 5De fato, não nos pregamos a nós mesmos, pregamos a Jesus Cristo, o Senhor. Quanto a nós, apresentamo-nos como servos vossos, por causa de Jesus. 6Com efeito, Deus que disse: “Do meio das trevas brilhe a luz” é o mesmo que fez brilhar a sua luz em nossos corações, para tornar claro o conhecimento da sua glória na face de Cristo. – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading from St Paul's second letter to the Corinthians 3,15-4,1.3-6 – Brethren, 15 to the present day, when the Israelites read the writings of Moses, a veil covers their hearts. 16But every time the heart converts to the Lord, the Veil is taken away. 17For The Lord is the Spirit, and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18All of us, however, with our face uncovered, contemplate and reflect the glory of the Lord, and thus we are transformed into his image, by his spirit, with an ever-increasing glory. 4, 1We do Not discourage in the exercise of this ministry that we receive from Divine Mercy. 3E If our gospel is veiled, it is only for those who perish that it is veiled. 4Th God of this world blinded the intelligence of these unbelievers, that they would not see the splendid light of the Gospel of the Glory of Christ, which is the image of God. 5Indeed, we do not preach to ourselves, we preach to Jesus Christ the Lord. Eu vos dou novo preceito: / que uns aos outros vos ameis, como eu vos tenho amado (Jo 13,34). –Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 5,20-26 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 20“Se a vossa justiça não for maior que a justiça dos mestres da lei e dos fariseus, vós não entrareis no reino dos céus. 21Vós ouvistes o que foi dito aos antigos: ‘Não matarás! Quem matar será condenado pelo tribunal’. 22Eu, porém, vos digo, todo aquele que se encoleriza com seu irmão será réu em juízo; quem disser ao seu irmão ‘patife!’ será condenado pelo tribunal; quem chamar o irmão de tolo será condenado ao fogo do inferno. 23Portanto, quando tu estiveres levando a tua oferta para o altar e ali te lembrares que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti, 24deixa a tua oferta ali, diante do altar, e vai primeiro reconciliar-te com o teu irmão. Só então vai apresentar a tua oferta. 25Procura reconciliar-te com teu adversário, enquanto caminha contigo para o tribunal. Senão o adversário te entregará ao juiz, o juiz te entregará ao oficial de justiça, e tu serás jogado na prisão. 26Em verdade eu te digo, dali não sairás, enquanto não pagares o último centavo”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel

I give you new precept:/That each other you love, as I have loved You (Jn 13.34). – Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 5,20-26 – At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 20 "If your righteousness is no greater than the righteousness of the Masters of the Law and of the Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 21Ye have heard what was said unto the ancients, ' Thou shalt not kill! Whoever kills will be convicted by the court. ' 22 but I say unto you, whosoever with his brother shall be accused in judgment; Whoever tells his brother ' Scoundrel! ' will be condemned by the court; Whoever calls the brother a fool will be condemned to the fire of hell. 23Therefore, when you are taking your offer to the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your offer there, before the altar, and you will first reconcile with your brother. Only then will you present your offer. 25Seek to reconcile yourself with your opponent while walking with you to the court. Otherwise the opponent will hand you over to the judge, the judge will hand you over to the bailiff, and you'll be thrown in jail. 26In Truth I tell you, From there you will not leave, until thou shalt pay the last penny. Salmo 84/85

A glória do Senhor habitará em nossa terra. Quero ouvir o que o Senhor irá falar: † é a paz que ele vai anunciar; / a paz para o seu povo e seus amigos. / Está perto a salvação dos que o temem, / e a glória habitará em nossa terra. – A verdade e o amor se encontrarão, / a justiça e a paz se abraçarão; / da terra brotará a fidelidade, / e a justiça olhará dos altos céus. – O Senhor nos dará tudo o que é bom, / e a nossa terra nos dará suas colheitas; / a justiça andará na sua frente / e a salvação há de seguir os passos seus.

Psalm 84/85

The glory of the Lord will dwell in our land. I want to hear what the Lord will say: † It is the peace he will announce; /peace for your people and your friends. /It is near the salvation of those who fear it,/and glory will dwell in our land. – Truth and Love will be found,/justice and peace will embrace; /The earth will sprout fidelity,/And justice will look from the high heavens. – The Lord will give us all that is good,/and our land will give us his crops; /justice will walk in front of you/and salvation will follow in your footsteps.
