Leitura da carta de são Paulo aos Romanos 10,9-18 – Irmãos, 9se, com tua boca, confessares Jesus como Senhor e, no teu coração, creres que Deus o ressuscitou dos mortos, serás salvo. 10É crendo no coração que se alcança a justiça e é confessando a fé com a boca que se consegue a salvação. 11Pois a Escritura diz: “Todo aquele que nele crer não ficará confundido”. 12Portanto, não importa a diferença entre judeu e grego; todos têm o mesmo Senhor, que é generoso para com todos os que o invocam. 13De fato, todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor será salvo. 14Mas como invocá-lo sem antes crer nele? E como crer sem antes ter ouvido falar dele? E como ouvir sem alguém que pregue? 15E como pregar sem ser enviado para isso? Assim é que está escrito: “Quão belos são os pés dos que anunciam o bem”. 16Mas nem todos obedeceram à Boa-Nova. Pois Isaías diz: “Senhor, quem acreditou em nossa pregação?” 17Logo, a fé vem da pregação, e a pregação se faz pela palavra de Cristo. 18Então, eu pergunto: será que eles não ouviram? Certamente que ouviram, pois “a voz deles se espalhou por toda a terra, e as suas palavras chegaram aos confins do mundo”. – Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading 

Reading of the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans 10,9-18 - Brethren, 9 and with your mouth confess Jesus as Lord and in your heart believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10And believing in the heart that righteousness is attained, and confessing faith by the mouth, that salvation is attained. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." 12Therefore, the difference between Jew and Greek does not matter; all have the same Lord, who is generous to all who call upon him. 13And whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. 14But how to call upon him without first believing in him? And how to believe without having first heard of it? And how to listen without someone to preach? How can I preach without being sent to this? Thus it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good." But not all of them obeyed the Good News. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who believed in our preaching?" 17 Faith comes from preaching, and preaching is done by the word of Christ. 18And I ask, Have they not heard? Surely they have heard, for "their voice has spread throughout all the earth, and their words have reached the ends of the world." - Word of the Lord.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 4,18-22 – Naquele tempo, 18quando Jesus andava à beira do mar da Galileia, viu dois irmãos: Simão, chamado Pedro, e seu irmão André. Estavam lançando a rede ao mar, pois eram pescadores. 19Jesus disse a eles: “Segui-me, e eu farei de vós pescadores de homens”. 20Eles, imediatamente, deixaram as redes e o seguiram. 21Caminhando um pouco mais, Jesus viu outros dois irmãos: Tiago, filho de Zebedeu, e seu irmão João. Estavam na barca com seu pai, Zebedeu, consertando as redes. Jesus os chamou. 22Eles, imediatamente, deixaram a barca e o pai e o seguiram. – Palavra da salvação.

Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 4: 18-22 - At that time, when Jesus was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting the net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20And immediately they left their nets and followed him. 21Then he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in the boat with Zebedee their father, repairing their nets. Jesus called them. 22And immediately they left the boat and the father, and followed him. - Word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Há duas tradições a respeito da vocação de André. Em Mc 1,16ss, foi chamado juntamente com Pedro, quando estavam pescando no mar da Galileia. Segundo Jó 1,40ss, foi chamado juntamente com outro discípulo do Batista, que apontou Jesus como o “Cordeiro de Deus”. André aparece no elenco dos doze apóstolos. Em Jó 6,8, é André quem informa sobre um menino que tem os pães e os peixes que logo são partilhados entre todos. Em Jó 12,22, André atua como mediador entre Jesus e os gregos que pedem uma entrevista com Jesus. Algumas tradições referem que André desenvolveu seu ministério apostólico na Grécia e na Ásia Menor. Segundo tais tradições, morreu mártir em Patras, sobre uma cruz disposta em X. Suas relíquias, levadas a Roma em 1462, foram restituídas à Grécia pelo Papa Paulo VI.

Reflecting the Gospel 

There are two traditions about André's vocation. In Mark 1: 16ff he was called together with Peter while they were fishing in the Sea of Galilee. According to Job 1,40, he was called together with another disciple of the Baptist, who pointed to Jesus as the "Lamb of God." Andrew appears in the cast of the twelve apostles. In Job 6: 8, it is Andrew who informs about a boy who has the loaves and fishes that are soon shared among all. In Job 12.22, Andrew acts as a mediator between Jesus and the Greeks who ask for an interview with Jesus. Some traditions indicate that Andrew developed his apostolic ministry in Greece and Asia Minor. According to such traditions, he died a martyr in Patras on a cross laid out in X. His relics, taken to Rome in 1462, were restored to Greece by Pope Paul VI.
