Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, 1Jesus ergueu os olhos e viu pessoas ricas depositando ofertas no tesouro do templo. 2Viu também uma pobre viúva que depositou duas pequenas moedas. 3Diante disso, ele disse: “Em verdade vos digo que essa pobre viúva ofertou mais do que todos. 4Pois todos eles depositaram, como oferta feita a Deus, aquilo que lhes sobrava. Mas a viúva, na sua pobreza, ofertou tudo quanto tinha para viver”. – Palavra da salvação.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Jesus havia criticado fortemente o comércio no Templo, transformado em “abrigo de ladrões” (cf. Lc 19,46). Na sequência, ele anuncia que esse Templo, luxuosamente construído graças às ofertas dos fiéis, seria destruído. Agora, seu olhar recai sobre uma viúva pobre que deposita no tesouro do Templo “tudo o que tinha para viver”. Fico imaginando que Jesus, diante de cena tão nobre e comovente, teve ímpeto de correr até a pobrezinha, e dizer-lhe: “Senhora, guarde o seu dinheirinho, ele é indispensável para sua sobrevivência”. Tal atitude estaria em total sintonia com as advertências de Jesus contra a sociedade que explora e castiga os pobres e marginalizados. Aos ricos, Jesus recomendaria que fossem menos vaidosos e menos apegados ao dinheiro.

Reflecting the Gospel 

Jesus had strongly criticized the trade in the Temple, transformed into a "shelter of thieves" (Lk 19:46). In the sequence, he announces that this Temple, luxuriously built thanks to the offerings of the faithful, would be destroyed. Now his gaze falls on a poor widow who deposits in the Temple treasury "all that she had to live." I imagine that Jesus, before such a noble and moving scene, had an urge to run to the poor girl and say to her: "Lady, keep your money, it is indispensable for your survival." Such an attitude would be in full tune with Jesus' warnings against society that exploits and punishes the poor and marginalized. To the rich, Jesus would recommend that they be less vain and less attached to money.
