🇧🇷 Reflexão do Dia 06/03/2019 ✔ 🇺🇸 Daily Reflection 03/06/2019 ✔

Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of men.

Reflection
Human beings tend to advertise their own good works. Jesus warns his disciples against this. To give alms, to pray, to fast, to receive the ashes only to draw attention to oneself has no value before God. What really counts is the inner attitude of conversion to God and to the brothers. This is why Jesus insists: everything is done with discretion and humility. Otherwise, we may be held hostage by the approval of others for what we do. Then we fall into the danger of giving the appearance of virtue to something that is nothing more than ostentation and exhibitionism. In this way we deceive our neighbor and ourselves. They may even applaud us, but this would be a fleeting and empty reward. It matters the approval of God, who knows our inner self and to whom nothing goes unnoticed. Do everything without complaint or argument, so that no one can accuse you. Lead a pure and blameless life as children of God, shining like glittering lights in a world full of corrupt and perverse people. Philippians 2: 14-15 (NVT). The devil prefers to fish in troubled waters. Murmuring and strife are strategies forged by the evil one to discourage believers and paralyze mission. Someone has said that "you have never seen the Spirit of God acting where the Lord's people are divided, arguing and spreading told-me-told."

1a. Leitura
– Palavra do Senhor.

1st. Reading
Reading from the prophecy of Joel 2,12-18-12 "Now, saith the Lord, return unto me with all your heart, with fasting, tears, and groanings; 13rake the heart, and not the garments, and return unto the LORD your God; he is gracious and compassionate, patient and full of mercy, inclined to forgive punishment. "14 Who knows if he turns to you and forgives you, and leaves behind you the blessing, oblation and libation to the Lord your God? 15Take a trumpet in Zion, I have prescribed the holy fast, call the assembly; 16 gather the people, perform ceremonies of worship, gather elders, gather children and infants; let the bridegroom be his chamber, and the bride his bed. 17Chorem between the vestibule and the altar, the holy ministers of the Lord, and say, "Lord, forgive your people, and do not let this inheritance of yours be infamous, and let the nations subdue it." Why should it be said among the peoples, "Where is their God?" 18Then the Lord was filled with zeal for his land and forgave his people. - Word of the Lord.

Evangelho

Gospel
Jesus Christ, you are blessed, / you are the anointed of God the Father!
Would that ye would hear his voice this day: / Do not close your hearts as in Meribah! (Sl 94.8).
Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 6: 1-6, 16-18 - At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 1 "Be careful not to do your righteousness in front of men only to be seen by them. Otherwise, you will not receive the reward of your Father who is in heaven. 2Therefore, when you give alms, do not sound the trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, to be praised by men. Verily I say unto you, they have received their reward. 3On the contrary, when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms are hidden. And your Father, who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. 5When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the squares, to be seen by men. Verily I say unto you, they have received their reward. 6On contrary, when you pray, enter your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is hidden. And your Father, who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. 16When you fast, do not look sad like the hypocrites. They disfigure the face so that men will see that they are fasting. Verily I say unto you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, perfuse your head and wash your face, 18 so that men will not see that you are fasting, but only your Father who is hidden. And your Father, who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. " - Word of salvation.

Salmo 50/51
Misericórdia, ó Senhor, pois pecamos.
Tende piedade, ó meu Deus, misericórdia! / Na imensidão de vosso amor, purificai-me! / Lavai-me todo inteiro do pecado / e apagai completamente a minha culpa!

Psalm 50/51
Mercy, O Lord, for we have sinned.
Have mercy on me, O my God! / In the immensity of your love, purify me! / Wash away all of sin / and completely blot out my guilt!
I acknowledge all my iniquity, / my sin is always before me. / It was against you, only against you, that I have sinned / done that which is evil in your eyes!
Create in me a heart that is pure, / give me a decided spirit again. O Lord, do not turn me away from your face, nor withdraw your Holy Spirit from me!
Give me again the joy of being saved / and confirm me with a generous spirit! / Open my lips, O Lord, to sing, / and my mouth will declare your praise!
