(Ez 18,31) – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus 5,20-26 – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: 20“Se a vossa justiça não for maior que a justiça dos mestres da lei e dos fariseus, vós não entrareis no reino dos céus. 21Vós ouvistes o que foi dito aos antigos: ‘Não matarás! Quem matar será condenado pelo tribunal’. 22Eu, porém, vos digo, todo aquele que se encoleriza com seu irmão será réu em juízo; quem disser ao seu irmão ‘patife!’ será condenado pelo tribunal; quem chamar o irmão de tolo será condenado ao fogo do inferno. 23Portanto, quando tu estiveres levando a tua oferta para o altar e ali te lembrares que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti, 24deixa a tua oferta ali diante do altar e vai primeiro reconciliar-te com o teu irmão. Só então vai apresentar a tua oferta. 25Procura reconciliar-te com teu adversário, enquanto caminha contigo para o tribunal. Senão o adversário te entregará ao juiz, o juiz te entregará ao oficial de justiça, e tu serás jogado na prisão. 26Em verdade eu te digo, dali não sairás, enquanto não pagares o último centavo”. – Palavra da salvação.

Save, O Christ, the image of the Father, / tell the full truth to us! Cast all your iniquity away! / Create in yourself a new spirit and a new heart! (Eze 18,31) - Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 5,20-26 - At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 20 “If your righteousness is no greater than the righteousness of the teachers of the law and the Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 21You heard what was said to the ancients: ‘You shall not kill! Whoever kills will be condemned by the court ’. 22I, however, I say to you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be a defendant in court; whoever says to his brother 'rascal!' will be convicted by the court; whoever calls his brother a fool will be condemned to hellfire. 23Therefore, when you are taking your offering to the altar and there remembering that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your offering there before the altar and go first to be reconciled to your brother. Only then will present your offer. 25Try to reconcile yourself with your opponent, while walking with you to the court. Otherwise the opponent will hand you over to the judge, the judge will hand you over to the bailiff, and you will be thrown into prison. 26Truly I tell you, you will not leave there until you pay the last penny ”. - Word of salvation.
Reflection
Jesus asks his disciples for a justice accompanied by mercy and fidelity (Mt 23,23). The heavenly Father is a model who “makes his sun rise over the wicked and the good, and makes it rain over the just and the unjust” (Mt 5,45). The negative precept "do not kill" extends to the positive demand for reconciliation. It is not possible to worship God if the heart is dominated by hatred. Such worship ceases to be authentic and becomes mere caricature, useless for God and scandalous for the brothers.

Modelo é o Pai celeste que “faz seu sol nascer sobre malvados e bons, e faz chover sobre justos e injustos” (Mt 5,45). O preceito negativo “não matar” estende-se à exigência positiva de reconciliação. Não é possível prestar culto a Deus, se o coração está dominado pelo ódio. Tal culto deixa de ser autêntico e transforma-se em mera caricatura, inútil para Deus e escandalosa para os irmãos.
