All who believe in him have eternal life.

– Palavra do Senhor.

1st Reading - Numbers 21,4-9
Reading of the book of Numbers – in those days, 4 the children of Israel departed from Mount Hor, by the way which leads to the Red Sea, to circumvent the country of Edom. During the trip, the people began to restless if 5 and to speak against God and against Moses, saying: "why did us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread, there is no water, and we're sick of this miserable food. " 6 then the Lord sent against the people of poisonous snakes, the bite; and many people died in Israel. 7 the people came to Moses and said, "we have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord that we stay away from the snakes ". Moses interceded for the people, 8 and the Lord answered: "Make a bronze snake and put it as a sign on a pole; He who is bitten and look for her live ". 9 Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it as a sign on a pole. When anyone was bitten by a snake and looked to the bronze serpent, he was cured. -The word of the Lord.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John-at that time, Jesus said to Nicodemus: 13 "no one he ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the son of man. 14 just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so the son of man be lifted up, 15 so that all who believe in him have eternal life. 16 Because God so loved the world, that he gave your only begotten son to die all who believe, but have everlasting life. 17 in fact, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn your the world, but so that the world might be saved through him ". -The word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho

Reflecting the Gospel
The emperor Constantine built in Jerusalem two basilicas, one about Golgotha (death of Jesus), and another on the Tomb of Jesus. The dedication of these basilicas held the 13 of September of the year 335. The next day, remembering the deep significance of the two churches, proved to the people what was left of the wood of the cross of the Savior. Annually repeat this ritual. Hence originated the celebration of the day September 14, also in Rome, since the 7th century. "The cross is, at the same time, the suffering and the trophy of God. Is your suffering, why was it that he died voluntarily; She is your triumph, because the devil was defeated and he was beaten to death. The cross is proclaimed as the glory of Christ and your exaltation. " (St. Andrew of Crete, 7th century).

Rezando
Salmo 77/78.

Praying
Listen, o my people, to my law,/listen tuned the words as I say; /I will open my mouth in parables,/the mysteries of the past will. When the feria, they then sought,/became, running to him; /remind us that the Lord is your rock/and that God, your Redeemer, is the most high God. But only the honored with your lips/and lied to the Lord with their tongues; /their hearts were false/misleading and infidels, they broke the Alliance. But the Lord, always benign and compassionate,/not forgive your SIN and kill them; /How often dominated your anger/and didn't let your flow furor. Psalm 77/78.
