1a. Leitura - Tessalonicenses 5,1-6.9-11
Leitura da primeira carta de são Paulo aos Tessalonicenses – 1 Quanto ao tempo e à hora, meus irmãos, não há por que vos escrever. 2 Vós mesmos sabeis perfeitamente que o dia do Senhor virá como ladrão, de noite. 3 Quando as pessoas disserem: “Paz e segurança!”, então de repente sobrevirá a destruição, como as dores de parto sobre a mulher grávida. E não poderão escapar. 4 Mas vós, meus irmãos, não estais nas trevas, de modo que esse dia vos surpreenda como um ladrão. 5 Todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia. Não somos da noite nem das trevas. 6 Portanto, não durmamos, como os outros, mas sejamos vigilantes e sóbrios. 9 Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas para alcançarmos a salvação por meio de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. 10 Ele morreu por nós para que, quer vigiando nesta vida, quer adormecidos na morte, alcancemos a vida junto dele. 11 Por isso, exortai-vos e edificai-vos uns aos outros, como já costumais fazer. – Palavra do Senhor.

Evangelho - Lucas 4,31-37
Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, 31 Jesus desceu a Cafarnaum, cidade da Galileia, e aí ensinava-os aos sábados. 32 As pessoas ficavam admiradas com o seu ensinamento, porque Jesus falava com autoridade. 33 Na sinagoga, havia um homem possuído pelo espírito de um demônio impuro, que gritou em alta voz: 34 “O que queres de nós, Jesus nazareno? Vieste para nos destruir? Eu sei quem tu és: tu és o santo de Deus!” 35 Jesus o ameaçou, dizendo: “Cala-te e sai dele!” Então o demônio lançou o homem no chão, saiu dele e não lhe fez mal nenhum. 36 O espanto se apossou de todos, e eles comentavam entre si: “Que palavra é essa? Ele manda nos espíritos impuros com autoridade e poder, e eles saem”. 37 E a fama de Jesus se espalhava em todos os lugares da redondeza. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Luke 4,31-37

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Coerente com seu programa missionário libertador, assumido na sinagoga de Nazaré, Jesus vai a campo. Como de praxe, ensina nas sinagogas. Fala com autoridade, de modo que as forças adversas (demônio impuro) lhe obedecem, e seus ouvintes ficam maravilhados. Com sua palavra eficaz, Jesus expulsa um espírito impuro, que percebe estar diante de uma força superior: “Eu sei quem tu és: o Santo de Deus”. O espanto toma conta de todos, porque os espíritos impuros são submetidos às ordens de Jesus, dadas com autoridade e poder. Era inevitável que a fama de Jesus se espalhasse por toda parte. Mais tarde, ele investirá seus discípulos com este mesmo poder, isto é, o de libertar o povo da escravidão e de todas as amarras que o privam da vida plena que Deus quer para todos.

Reflecting the Gospel
