1a. Leitura - 1 Tessalonicenses 4,1-8
Leitura da primeira carta de são Paulo aos Tessalonicenses – 1 Meus irmãos, eis o que vos pedimos e exortamos no Senhor Jesus: aprendestes de nós como deveis viver para agradar a Deus e já estais vivendo assim. Fazei progressos ainda maiores! 2 Conheceis, de fato, as instruções que temos dado em nome do Senhor Jesus. 3 Esta é a vontade de Deus: vivei na santidade, afastai-vos da impureza; 4 cada um saiba tratar o seu parceiro conjugal com santidade e respeito, 5 sem se deixar levar pelas paixões, como fazem os pagãos, que não conhecem a Deus. 6 Que ninguém, nessa matéria, prejudique ou engane seu irmão, porque o Senhor se vinga de tudo, como já vos dissemos e comprovamos. 7 Deus não nos chamou à impureza, mas à santidade. 8 Portanto, desprezar estes preceitos não é desprezar um homem, e sim a Deus, que nos deu o Espírito Santo. – Palavra do Senhor.

 
1st Reading - 1 Thessalonians 4,1-8

Reading the first letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians-1 my brothers, here's what we ask and we exhort in the Lord Jesus: have you learned from us how you should live to please God and already you are living like this. Evangelho - Mateus 25,1-13
Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos esta parábola: 1 “O reino dos céus é como a história das dez jovens que pegaram suas lâmpadas de óleo e saíram ao encontro do noivo. 2 Cinco delas eram imprevidentes, e as outras cinco eram previdentes. 3 As imprevidentes pegaram as suas lâmpadas, mas não levaram óleo consigo. 4 As previdentes, porém, levaram vasilhas com óleo junto com as lâmpadas. 5 O noivo estava demorando e todas elas acabaram cochilando e dormindo. 6 No meio da noite, ouviu-se um grito: ‘O noivo está chegando. Ide ao seu encontro!’ 7 Então as dez jovens se levantaram e prepararam as lâmpadas. 8 As imprevidentes disseram às previdentes: ‘Dai-nos um pouco de óleo, porque nossas lâmpadas estão se apagando’. 9 As previdentes responderam: ‘De modo nenhum, porque o óleo pode ser insuficiente para nós e para vós. É melhor irdes comprar aos vendedores’. 10 Enquanto elas foram comprar óleo, o noivo chegou e as que estavam preparadas entraram com ele para a festa de casamento. E a porta se fechou. 11 Por fim, chegaram também as outras jovens e disseram: ‘Senhor! Senhor! Abre-nos a porta!’ 12 Ele, porém, respondeu: ‘Em verdade eu vos digo, não vos conheço!’ 13 Portanto, ficai vigiando, pois não sabeis qual será o dia nem a hora”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Matthew 25,1-13

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew – at that time, Jesus said to his disciples this parable: 1 "the Kingdom of heaven is like the story of the ten young people who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 5 of them were improvident, and the other five were farsighted. 3 The improvident took their lamps but took no oil with you. 4 The farsighted, however, took oil canisters along with the lamps. 5 the groom were taking and they all ended up napping and sleeping. 6 in the middle of the night, heard a scream: ' the bridegroom is coming. IDE to your date! ' 7 Then the ten young people arose and prepared the lamps. 8 The improvident said to the farsighted: ' give us a bit of oil, because our lamps are going out. 9 The farsighted replied: ' no way, because the oil may be insufficient for us and for you. You'd better go buy to sellers '. 10 While they went to buy oil, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding party. And the door closed. 11 Finally, the other young also came and said, ' Sir! Sir! Opens the door for us. ' 12 but he replied: ' In truth I tell you, I don't know you! ' 13 Therefore, keep watching, because you don't know what will be the day nor the hour. " -The word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Outro ensinamento de Jesus sobre a vigilância. Ele compara o Reino dos Céus a dez virgens, cinco sem juízo e cinco prudentes. O noivo é Jesus, que vem para ser recebido pelos discípulos alertas e preparados (virgens prudentes), enquanto os discípulos desprevenidos e infiéis (virgens sem juízo) experimentam a exclusão final. A parábola pretende convencer os cristãos a viver fiel e honestamente a serviço do Reino. Qual foi o erro das virgens sem juízo? Não estavam preparadas para a chegada do noivo. Elas representam os discípulos que não levam a sério as advertências de Jesus. Não conhecer o momento de sua chegada requer atenção e prontidão. Com a parábola aprendemos que nosso encontro com Jesus não deve ser improvisado à última hora. A morte cristã se prepara mediante uma autêntica vida cristã.

Reflecting the Gospel

Another teaching of Jesus about the surveillance. He compared the Kingdom of heaven the ten virgins, five without judgment and five prudent. The bridegroom is Jesus, who comes to be received by the disciples and alerts (bridesmaids), while the disciples off guard and infidels (virgins without judgment) experience final exclusion. The parable aims to convince Christians to live faithfully and honestly the service of the Kingdom. What was the error of virgins without judgment? They weren't prepared for the arrival of the groom. They represent the disciples who don't take seriously the warnings of Jesus. Not knowing the moment of your arrival needs attention and readiness. With the parable we learn that our encounter with Jesus should not be improvised at the last minute. Christian death prepares for an authentic Christian life.

God is King! Let the land of joy/and the numerous islands rejoice! /Darkness and cloud around in your throne/rests on justice and the law. The mountains melt like wax/before the face of the Lord of all the Earth; /and so proclaims the sky your justice,/all people can see your glory. The Lord loves those who hate evil, † it protects his faithful and their lives/and the hand of sinners the release. A light already rises to the righteous,/and joy, for the straight hearts. /Righteous men, rejoice in the Lord, sing praise and bless your/holy name! Psalm 96/97.
