Ai de vós, mestres da lei e fariseus hipócritas!

And you, who do you say that I am?

1a. Leitura - 1 Tessalonicenses 1,1-5.8-10

Início da primeira carta de são Paulo aos Tessalonicenses – 1 Paulo, Silvano e Timóteo à Igreja dos tessalonicenses, reunida em Deus Pai e no Senhor Jesus Cristo: a vós, graça e paz! 2 Damos graças a Deus por todos vós, lembrando-vos sempre em nossas orações. 3 Diante de Deus, nosso Pai, recordamos sem cessar a atuação da vossa fé, o esforço da vossa caridade e a firmeza da vossa esperança em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. 4 Sabemos, irmãos amados por Deus, que sois do número dos escolhidos. 5 Porque o nosso evangelho não chegou até vós somente por meio de palavras, mas também mediante a força que é o Espírito Santo; e isso com toda a abundância. Sabeis de que maneira procedemos entre vós, para o vosso bem. 8 A vossa fé em Deus propagou-se por toda parte. Assim, nós já nem precisamos falar, 9 pois as pessoas mesmas contam como vós nos acolhestes e como vos convertestes, abandonando os falsos deuses para servir ao Deus vivo e verdadeiro, 10 esperando dos céus o seu Filho, a quem ele ressuscitou dentre os mortos: Jesus, que nos livra do castigo que está por vir. – Palavra do Senhor.

 
1st Reading - 1 Thessalonians 1,1-5.8-10

Evangelho - Mateus 23,13-22

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus: 13 “Ai de vós, mestres da lei e fariseus hipócritas! Vós fechais o reino dos céus aos homens. Vós, porém, não entrais nem deixais entrar aqueles que o desejam.[14] 15 Ai de vós, mestres da lei e fariseus hipócritas! Vós percorreis o mar e a terra para converter alguém e, quando o conseguis, o tornais merecedor do inferno, duas vezes pior do que vós. 16 Ai de vós, guias cegos! Vós dizeis: ‘Se alguém jura pelo templo, não vale; mas, se alguém jura pelo ouro do templo, então vale!’ 17 Insensatos e cegos! O que vale mais, o ouro ou o templo, que santifica o ouro? 18 Vós dizeis também: ‘Se alguém jura pelo altar, não vale; mas, se alguém jura pela oferta que está sobre o altar, então vale!’ 19 Cegos! O que vale mais, a oferta ou o altar, que santifica a oferta? 20 Com efeito, quem jura pelo altar jura por ele e por tudo o que está sobre ele. 21 E quem jura pelo templo jura por ele e por Deus que habita no templo. 22 E quem jura pelo céu jura pelo trono de Deus e por aquele que nele está sentado”. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel - Matthew 23,13-22

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew – at that time, Jesus said: "13 woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, hypocrites! You closing the Kingdom of heaven to men. But don't go or let those that wish. [14] 15 woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, hypocrites! Ye ye compass sea and land to convert someone and when I did, the deserving of hell, destroys the credibility of two times worse than you. 16 woe to you, blind guides! You say, ' if anyone swears by the temple, it's no use; But if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, so worth! ' 17 Fools and blind! What is more, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 you say also, ' if anyone swears by the altar, it's worth; But if anyone swears by the gift that is on the altar, then. ' 19 Blind! What is more, the offer or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 indeed, who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 and he who swears by the temple swears by it and by God who dwells in the temple. 22 and he who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by that it is sitting ". -The word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Severa advertência aos líderes religiosos. Com malícia, esperteza e jogo de palavras, os doutores da Lei e os fariseus distorcem a prática da religião e enganam os fiéis. Com habilidade, manipulam os ensinamentos da Escritura, não para beneficiar o povo, mas para tirar proveito da “obediência” do povo. Jesus os desmascara. Chama-os de hipócritas, Isto é, disfarçados. Exigem o cumprimento das múltiplas leis, mas não as põem em prática; aumentam o número de seguidores, não para orientá-los para a vida plena e a liberdade, mas para mantê-los prisioneiros de seus caprichos. Jesus os chama de cegos: insistem nos detalhes da Lei, mas desviam o povo do cumprimento das leis divinas fundamentais. Benéfica meditação para todos os que têm algum grau de liderança na Igreja.

Reflecting the Gospel

Severe warning to the religious leaders. With malice, wit and wordplay, the doctors of the law and the Pharisees distort the practice of religion and mislead the faithful. With skill, manipulate the teachings of Scripture, not to benefit the people, but to take advantage of "obedience" of the people. Jesus the debunks. Call them hypocrites, that is, in disguise.
