E vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?

And you, who do you say that I am?

1a. Leitura - Isaías 22,19-23
Leitura do livro do profeta Isaías – Assim diz o Senhor a Sobna, o administrador do palácio: 19 “Eu vou te destituir do posto que ocupas e demitir-te do teu cargo. 20 Acontecerá que nesse dia chamarei meu servo Eliacim, filho de Helcias, 21 e o vestirei com a tua túnica e colocarei nele a tua faixa, porei em suas mãos a tua autoridade; ele será um pai para os habitantes de Jerusalém e para a casa de Judá. 22 Eu o farei levar aos ombros a chave da casa de Davi; ele abrirá, e ninguém poderá fechar; ele fechará, e ninguém poderá abrir. 23 Hei de fixá-lo como estaca em lugar seguro e aí ele terá o trono de glória na casa de seu pai”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, 13 Jesus foi à região de Cesareia de Filipe e aí perguntou a seus discípulos: “Quem dizem os homens ser o Filho do homem?” 14 Eles responderam: “Alguns dizem que é João Batista; outros, que é Elias; outros, ainda, que é Jeremias ou algum dos profetas”. 15 Então Jesus lhes perguntou: “E vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?” 16 Simão Pedro respondeu: “Tu és o Messias, o Filho do Deus vivo”. 17 Respondendo, Jesus lhe disse: “Feliz és tu, Simão, filho de Jonas, porque não foi um ser humano que te revelou isso, mas o meu Pai que está no céu. 18 Por isso eu te digo que tu és Pedro, e sobre esta pedra construirei a minha Igreja, e o poder do inferno nunca poderá vencê-la. 19 Eu te darei as chaves do reino dos céus: tudo o que tu ligares na terra será ligado nos céus; tudo o que tu desligares na terra será desligado nos céus”. 20 Jesus, então, ordenou aos discípulos que não dissessem a ninguém que ele era o Messias. – Palavra da salvação.

Gospel -Matthew16,13-20

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew - 13 At that time Jesus went to the region of Marjayoun and then asked his disciples: "Who say the men be the son of man?" 14 they replied, "some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; others, still, it's Jeremiah or one of the prophets ". 15 then Jesus asked them: "and you, who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered: "you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God". 17 Jesus answered and said to him: "Happy are you, Simon son of Jonah, because it was not a human being who revealed this, but my father which is in heaven. 18 therefore I tell you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the power of hell can never beat her. 19 I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven: whatever you call on earth shall be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. " 20 Jesus then ordered the disciples not to say anybody that he was the Messiah. -The word of salvation.

Refletindo o Evangelho 

Em Cesareia de Filipe predomina o poder imperial de Roma. Mas, nesse lugar são afirmados os planos de Deus para Jesus e seus discípulos. O povo pensa que Jesus é um dos profetas da antiga Aliança. E seus discípulos, o que pensam sobre ele? Pedro, o líder dos discípulos, responde corretamente: “Tu és o Messias, o Filho do Deus vivo”. Jesus é a presença de Deus entre nós. É Jesus, não o imperador, quem manifesta os planos de Deus. A resposta de Pedro é acolhida por Jesus com uma bênção: “Bem-aventurado és tu, Simão…”. Além do elogio, Pedro ganha também uma grande responsabilidade: deverá liderar a comunidade de Jesus (“a minha igreja”). Jesus dá a Pedro o poder de distinguir e apontar quem de fato pertence à comunidade comprometida com a justiça e quem se afasta, para se pôr do lado da injustiça.

Reflecting the Gospel

Peter, the leader of the disciples, responding correctly: "you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God". Jesus is the presence of God among us. Is Jesus, not the Emperor, who expresses God's plans. Pedro's response is received by Jesus with a blessing: "blessed are you, Simon. In addition to the compliment, Peter wins a great responsibility: should lead the community of Jesus ("my church"). Jesus gives Peter the power to distinguish and pinpoint who actually belongs to the community committed to justice and who moves away, to put on the side of injustice.
