For the second time, in a summarized way, Jesus warns his disciples of his tragic end. That information doesn't get into their heads. This kind of ad doesn't fit with what they expect from Jesus. They cannot reconcile power with weakness: how can they fall "in the hands of men" the one who expels the evil forces? They will only understand after the resurrection when Jesus "opens their wits to understand the scriptures. Then he will say, ' It is written that the Messiah had to suffer and resurrect from the dead on the third day ' "(cf. Lk 24,45).
