A sabedoria foi justificada por todos os seus filhos.

Wisdom was justified by all his children.

Os dirigentes do povo, incluindo as autoridades religiosas, que buscam desculpas, em vez de se abrirem ao projeto de Deus, não se dispuseram a mudar de vida ante os apelos severos de João Batista, a quem tacharam de louco. Agora não se dispõem a converter-se, diante das palavras de misericórdia de Jesus e de seus grandes prodígios. Até o chamam de “comilão e beberrão, amigo de cobradores de impostos e pecadores”. São como crianças caprichosas: nada é capaz de despertar-lhes interesse. Nem tudo, porém, está perdido: muitos discípulos da Sabedoria, (“filhos”) que eram os desprezados pelas autoridades religiosas, foram inteligentes, aceitando a conversão anunciada por João e o compromisso com Jesus.

A Centurion (chief of One hundred soldiers, at the service of the Romans) does not direct himself to Jesus, but sends him a delegation of Jewish elders to ask him to heal his servant to whom he is so esteemed. By the emissaries, we know that the man had a good heart. Jesus leaves with them. But, full of humility and trust, the military sends some friends with this message to Jesus: Say only one word and my servant will be healed. So it happens, so that the emissaries, when they return home, find the servant healed. And Jesus, taken with profound admiration, greatly worths the faith that the pagan has shown. With this episode, Luke already announces the time when the gospel, by the action of the Holy Spirit, will also extend to non-Jews.

Leitura da primeira carta de são Paulo a Timóteo 3,14-16 – Caríssimo, 14escrevo com a esperança de ir ver-te em breve. 15Se tardar, porém, quero que saibas como proceder na casa de Deus, que é a Igreja de Deus vivo, coluna e fundamento da verdade. 16Não pode haver dúvida de que é grande o mistério da piedade: ele foi manifestado na carne, foi justificado no espírito, contemplado pelos anjos, pregado às nações, acreditado no mundo, exaltado na glória! – Palavra do Senhor.

Reading of the first letter from St Paul to Timothy 3,14-16-most expensive, 14 I write with the hope of coming to see you soon. 15If not later, however, I want you to know how to proceed in the House of God, which is the Church of the Living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. 16There can be No doubt that the mystery of piety is great: it was manifested in the flesh, it was justified in the spirit, contemed by the Angels, preached to the nations, believed in the world, Exalted in glory! – Word of the Lord.
