O Cristo de Deus.

The Christ of God.

Jesus pergunta aos discípulos: “Quem sou eu?” A pergunta é um desafio, não simples curiosidade. Pedro responde como cabeça de todos: “Tu és o Messias de Deus!”, isto é, o Ungido de Deus que vem implantar a era da justiça e da paz (cf. Is 11,1-9). Os discípulos, porém, terão de percorrer longo caminho até compreenderem a verdadeira identidade de Jesus: ele é o Messias que vai realizar sua missão como Servo sofredor. Os chefes do povo (anciãos, chefes dos sacerdotes e doutores da Lei), que mantêm a sociedade injusta, vão matá-lo. Ele, porém, ressuscitará e dará continuidade a seu projeto por meio de seus seguidores.

Jesus asks the disciples, "Who Am I?" The question is a challenge, not simple curiosity. Peter responds as the head of all: "Thou art the Messiah of God!", that is, the anointed of God who comes to implant the age of justice and Peace (cf. Is 11.1-9). However, the disciples will have to go a long way until they understand the true identity of Jesus: He is the Messiah who will accomplish his mission as a suffering servant. The Chiefs of the people (Elders, chiefs of priests and Doctors of the law), who maintain unfair society, will kill him. He will, however, Resurrece and continue his project through his followers.

Leitura da profecia de Ageu1,15-2,9 – 15No segundo ano do reinado de Dario, 2,1no dia vinte e um do sétimo mês, fez-se ouvir a palavra do Senhor mediante o profeta Ageu: 2“Vai dizer a Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué, filho de Josedec, sumo sacerdote, e ao resto do povo: 3Há dentre vós algum sobrevivente que tenha visto esta casa em seu primitivo esplendor? E como a vedes agora? Não parece aos vossos olhos uma sombra do que era? 4Mas agora toma coragem, Zorobabel, diz o Senhor, coragem, Josué, filho de Josedec, sumo sacerdote; coragem, povo todo desta terra, diz o Senhor dos exércitos; ponde mãos à obra, pois eu estou convosco, diz o Senhor dos exércitos. 5Eu assumi um compromisso convosco quando saístes do Egito, e meu espírito permaneceu no meio de vós: não temais. 6Isto diz o Senhor dos exércitos: ainda um momento, e eu hei de mover o céu e a terra, o mar e a terra firme. 7Sacudirei todos os povos, e começarão a chegar tesouros de todas as nações, hei de encher de esplendor esta casa, diz o Senhor dos exércitos. 8Pertence-me a prata, pertence-me o ouro, diz o Senhor dos exércitos. 9O esplendor desta nova casa será maior que o da primeira, diz o Senhor dos exércitos; e neste lugar estabelecerei a paz, diz o Senhor dos exércitos”. – Palavra do Senhor.

Veio o Filho do homem, a fim de servir / e dar sua vida em resgate por muitos (Mc 10,45). – Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas 9,18-22 – Aconteceu que Jesus 18estava rezando num lugar retirado e os discípulos estavam com ele. Então, Jesus perguntou-lhes: “Quem diz o povo que eu sou?” 19Eles responderam: “Uns dizem que és João Batista; outros, que és Elias; mas outros acham que és algum dos antigos profetas que ressuscitou”. 20Mas Jesus perguntou: “E vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?” Pedro respondeu: “O Cristo de Deus”. 21Mas Jesus proibiu-lhes severamente que contassem isso a alguém. 22E acrescentou: “O Filho do homem deve sofrer muito, ser rejeitado pelos anciãos, pelos sumos sacerdotes e doutores da lei, deve ser morto e ressuscitar no terceiro dia”. – Palavra da salvação.
